Bluetooth GPS Receivers are new and first came out in the autumn of 2002. These have their own battery source, so unlike the GPS Sleeves and CF GPS Cards do not drain the Pocket PC or Palm's internal battery.
These are great for in-car street routing, giving you a wireless setup, and are also good for when you are out walking or hiking. The only thing you need to make sure is that you do have a Bluetooth connected PDA. If you're unsure if your PDA support Bluetooth check out our GPS Hardware Comparisons page and look at the relevant table for your PDA.

The first Bluetooth GPS receiver that I reviewed was the original Emtac Bluetooth GPS way back in 2002. At the time this was the first Bluetooth GPS and it stood the test of time. Transplant introduced this GPS receiver in the USA. Over the years the Emtac brand has changed hands and is now owned by Transplant. In that time a number of BT GPS receivers have been released. The most recent and the subject of this review is the Emtac Mini S3 Bluetooth Receiver. |

Haicom 305n and 401 BT GPS receiver review
They say that the first impression counts and this is one of the things Haicom scores. Just opening the box, the lucky buyer finds himself with details he/she would probably think of buying extra. Looking at the devices themselves we also find them having very good finishing, CLEARLY better than many plastic boxes out there, that someone “threw in” some circuitry (usually re-branded) that does something (in our case a GPS). Here we talk about a device clearly designed for what it does and implementing some interesting ideas! |

The Bluetooth Slipper is a converter for existing Haicom 303 cards, the 303MMF, 303E and 303S. The slipper will not work with any other Compact Flash cards. What you do is simply insert the card part of the GPS into the BT Slipper and the BT Slipper will power up and start trying to send out a Bluetooth signal, just like a regular Bluetooth GPS Receiver would do. |
