|
|
Hello, I'm new here. I bought Garmin DriveSmart 65 MT-D but unfortunately they don't have verbal speed camera warning. But from this forum I read it with some app you can deploy this feature. But I have some questions. What will happen with Cyclops speed camera? Is it possible just deploy audio files which works with Cyclops speed camera. Secondly I don't know maybe it is not possible with DriveSmart 65 device. |

Thanks. One more question Interface and audio is set Latvian language. If I want verbal warning should I need to change audio to english or is ok to leave it as I set? And how often speed cameras get update? |

Ah, I have no idea about the various languages.
I also don't know if we do a Latvian version. You'll need to check. _________________ DashCam:

The PGPSW speed camera database is updated once a week.
The language setting on the Garmin is for the routing information (eg In 200 yards turn left). Set that to your native language.
Whereas the available camera warnings are recorded in English, and play in English.
(It is possible to record your own warnings in your own language if you have some skills and equipment and patience). _________________ nuvi 2599LMT-D, oregon 700, basecamp, memory-map. |

Thanks, for repley. This is what I hoped to hear. So I'll try later to get work with my device. Sorry for silly question. Will it warn driver if you even drive with lower speed? |

Probably not if you use the Garmin app
You need something like my CSV Converter that forces a mandatory warning regardless of speed. _________________ DashCam:

That's the one.
One thing to note is that Garmin have given Cyclops the way to make the warnings directional.
Via POILoader we can only produce warnings that trigger from any direction.
Before you get too involved have a look at the SpeedtrapAlert thread.
That runs on your phone and is directional.
I use the Garmin DS61 for the visual alerts (speed icon via speed zoned) but have the Garmin volume at zero. Then STA produces the verbal warnings via the car system via bluetooth. _________________ DashCam:

Thanks for info. Unfortunately Volvo S60 2011 doesn't love Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (Snapdragon). Very often its works like 5sec goes audio then for 1sec quiet. It is so annoying and I remove device from car system. This is one of reasons why I bought Sat Nav device (I don't want to use phone as navigation.) |

STA isn't navigation, it's a bluetooth app that works like a quick phone call. _________________ DashCam:

Once you have created a new .GPI file using POILosder........
Make sure you always use the same POILoader settings. That forces POILoader to always create the same .GPI filename and POILoader will overwrite the existing file.
Updates are weekly. _________________ DashCam:

I've got overspeed set to 6 secs. Is 3 seconds enough warning if you're still going too fast ?
Up to you though. _________________ DashCam:
