Following our second recent review of the OnCourse Navigator software for the North American market we are pleased to offer a second copy of the program in a tombola/sweepstake. Thanks for the generous offer! I like the ability to be able to select a corridor of map data to download as I travel cross state and would use it to re-route myself when I disregard what my other GPS software tells me to do - I do know best, ask my wife!?!

I like the custom map cutting, so I can only include the places I need. I will use it primarily for road trips =]

I like cutting too. But I wish to have also possibility to avoid low bridges (motorhome), very narrow streets, motorways.

I will use it for my motorhome trips.

I visit USA often but it's a LARGE place and having all the USA loaded onto a PDA is not really practible or required.

I like the ability to define a "corridor" map giving you enough area either side of your main route for interesting diversions.

You have the ability to prepare pre-trip suitable (possibly multiple) cut maps for all possibilities and permutations - including "corridors" that cross-over each other.

An additional feature is the POI set that will point me towards relevant facilities in an unknown area - the ability to create your own POI's is also a bonus as I like to tour the New Mexico desert areas looking for Native American Pueblos and historical sites and I can create a set for these.

American paper maps are fairly poor in relation to he GB Ordanance Survey type we are used to in the UK - so having a predetermined POI for a place is a bonus and reassurring.

An advantage is that it runs well on the Mitac Mio 168 which I have!

Besides as Santa knows I've been a very good boy this year! :P

In the unfortunate event that you have a system crash whilst out and about you can be running again even after a full reset!

I too really like the ability to run from the SD Card and the selectability of the route. I really need this to do Route 66 on the Harley Softail!!!!!

I like that it uses the latest digital maps from NAVTEQ. I like to replace my existing PocketPC GPS application!

I would like to try it on my next trip to the West Coast. I heard from my peer that the user interface is not as friendly as CoPilot.

i love the idea of custom map cutting. i'd be able to load one map with everything i need instead of the 2 huge tomtom maps i had to load for a recent trip to florida. i also like the idea of a 3d display similar to tomtom's.

What I like:
* That lovely VGA screen
* WM2003 SE compatible
* Voice guidance
* Voice command
* Navteq maps
* Looks great in landscape
* The map cutting and compression of the maps
* Fast reroute calculations
* Point of interest sorted in order of distance from current position, alphabetically otherwise
* Getting great reviews at various sites, including here
* Buttons big enough to be controlled using a finger instead of a stylus (well, on my 4" screen anyhow)
* Support is exemplary
* Did I mention that I love that VGA screen?

What I dislike:
* Map is a little behind your actual position
* Route blocking could be improved
* Although rare, have seen it calculate inefficient "Fast routes"
* Search capability is limited
* Not good at finding numbered routes, highways, and interstates (favors the street name of the routes instead)
* Takes over the system volume (should be detached)
* No street names in 3D mode
* Needs bigger or at least better emphasized POI text on the maps

My wife is a Southern Living @ Home sales consultant, and would like some GPS software on her Pocket PC to navigate to her clients' residences.

Having read the review and seen the on-site demos, there are some features I liked, such as the map cutting (although Mapopolis already does this). Better Graphics and more importantly, more up to date maps.

What I did not like on the preloaded version is the design faults e.g reset button, leather pouch etc.

But the real reason for "wanting" this prize (and here is the honesty part)is that I have just returned from Florida and used another product (and slightly inferiro as well), my IPAQ got off the plane in pieces and I am currently without a SAV NAT unit and I am off to Nevada in the next few months and desparate to get in and around the state in one piece.

From what I gathered from the review and different posts:

What I like:
-that you can completely install it on a memory card, exemplary for recovery
-map size very small
-great long distance routing
-multiple stops (destinations)
-cutting a map corridor
-reacts to voice commands

What I dislike:
- Route blocking could be improved
-sometimes inefficient "Fast routes", seems more like shortest distance routes
-finding of roads (more often than not a road name is used instead of the more common route number)
-VERY slow map cutting (really big turn-off in general) even on fast computers
-odd entry system for addresses

The route blocking could be improved by letting users select a point on the map (tap and hold) and then asking for the length of the road block. Alternatively, if there was a turn-by-turn direction list one could choose the road to be blocked. The map cutting speed has to be improved, it is just WAY too slow, although the precut maps get around that. It would be great if one could choose a different kind of vehicle (like RV or bus) for route calculations as to avoid sharp turns and low bridges. That would be icing on the cake, though.

Of course I'd be using it to navigate through unknown addresses in my area, as well as the occasional roadtrip.
