I solved it in the end by fitting a belkin pci usb card to a spare pci slot, and it worked perfectly from then on!!
The card was probably a USB2.0 whereas older computers might still be using USB1.1

Just a thought. Wink

It is/was "enhanced" usb. Latest laser printer worked fine, recent digital camera and everything else, but not the TT until additional card fitted. Worked for me might help someone else.

Somebody in a North American TT forum said today that it was not till the x20 models that the units had a 'usb 2.0 interface'; earlier models only had a 'usb 1.1 interface'.

Now, while he may not have used the word 'interface' correctly (English is not his first language, I believe), there may be something to what he's saying, if correct, in that perhaps the computer has usb 2.0 capabilitity (those with XP and SP2 or Vista) but the hardware being connected isn't at that level, thereby causing some of these issues.

I do not know where he saw or got this information; I do know from previous posts, that he is usually quite accurate when discussing hardware issues. I believe he works in a large Electronics store .. one of the largest companies in North america.
