To all Mitac 168 owners...

I have just successfully applied the updated wavedev.dll file to my Mitac 168 and it has certainly fixed the bad sound which was clearly audible during the first 2 or 3 seconds of recording/playback. The fix is available at the Mitac website: http://www.mio-tech.be/downloads/default.asp

I remember reading a while back that someone on here had had a bad experience applying this fix, so full backups are a wise precaution before applying it.

All I can say is that it worked for me.

There are two CAB files, one for the Mio168 and one for the Mio336 so ensure that you've downloaded the correct one (file size zipped = 30Mb for Mitac 168).

Copy the correct CAB file to your SD card and then double click on the CAB file from within File Explorer which will in effect run the extraction process and load the patch.

It then shows on the list of installed programs meaning that you can fall back to the original file should you wish.

Does this work with the Aldi Medion 95000, which is based around the Mio 168?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that question.

I have copied the file after extraction and before extraction to my storage card but when I click on it/them all I get is a message saying that I need to run a suitable application .

What am I doing wrong ?

Do you also have a Mitac168?

Copy the correct CAB file to your SD card and then double click on the CAB file from within File Explorer which will in effect run the extraction process and load the patch.

If this doesn't work then I assume you've either got the wrong file or it's not compatible with your PDA.
