I am creating a POI overlay for Sainsbury's petrol stations (so I can get my Nectar points). Any contributions to this overlay will be gratefully received.
To start things off I have the following:-
;Longitude, Latitude, "Name"
-0.77570, 51.22333, "Water Lane, Farnham"
I am struggling to come up with a good logo (in orange I think) so come on you budding logo artists see what you can do.

I have coordinates for nearly all the Sainsbury stores with petrol stations. They are only approximate because they have been converted via Autoroute from the postcodes shown on Sainsbury's website, but they should be accurate to within 100 yards or so.
I can't see how to upload a file. I'll append a sample of the data to this posting. Is it OK, Dave, for me to append the lot (about 17k in total)? If not, can you point me to instructions for uploading?

Richard, here's a couple...
-1.31511, 50.91746, "Hedge End, Southampton, SO30 2"
-1.87722, 50.81049, "Ringwood Road, Ferndown, BH22 9"
If you run up AutoRoute and do EDIT | FIND then select PLACE/DATA tab and search for "J Sainsbury" (without quotes), you'll find all the Sainsbury Petrol Stations that AutoRoute has listed.
You'll also want to select each one and switch on the LOCATION SENSOR in TOOLS | LOCATION SENSOR to get the GPS Co-Ords. Anything West of Meridian or that shows North/West, just place West into negative.

Dave, Hugh is out at the moment, but could I refer you to his question to you of a couple of postings higher up this thread . . . . "I can't see how to upload a file. I'll append a sample of the data to this posting. Is it OK, Dave, for me to append the lot (about 17k in total)? If not, can you point me to instructions for uploading? "

Dave,
Thanks for the tip. Have you seen (above) that Buffy Beagle has a complete set from the Sainsbury's website. He would like some help getting the file to you. I expect that he has a TTN overlay which could go into your POI area.

I've just found the place on the POI database page where Dave asks for POI submissions to be e-mailed to PocketGPS, so I've now done that with my complete asc file as well as the ov2 file which I've made from it and also a primitive (orange) JS bmp file that I knocked up.
I hope these can be added to the downloads page soon.

Health warning!
There are numerous typos in the store addresses which call into the question of the reliability of the data.
The addresses were taken straight from the Sainsbury website. I used the postcodes to identify the coordinates. The only changes I made were where the postcodes were obviously wrong (e.g. letter "I" instead of numeral "1") or were missing. Where possible I have substituted approximate locations in these cases.
I hope the results are reasonably reliable.

Hugh,
Your POI overlay is just what I required. It should certainly get me into the right area. When at the pumps, or even passing by, I can get an accurate location and update my database. Thanks again.
