How do they work?

Anyone got any particular recommendations on manufacturer or supplier?

Thx

You have an external antenna and an internal antenna, it plugs into a car accessory socket or battery pack and it will then re-radiate/transmit the signal down the cable from the external antenna to the internal antenna and then send the signal out, so if you have a UV windscreen, you'll be able to get a better signal.

Thanks, not sure why I hadn't spotted the review Smile

My problem is TTFF with TTN2 Kit. In central London the other day it took 30mins for TTFF. I drive an SLK which is a convertable so there really isn't anywhere sensible and "neat" that I could put this outside. I thought maybe use it inside, perhaps on the opposite side of the dash. With the existing TTN GPS mouse it might just give me a little extra chance, any thoughts?

Have you thought about putting the GPS mouse just outside the driver or passenger door (crimping the cable in the rubber door seal). The base should be magentic and the receiver is waterproof. If there is a problem with receiving signals through the windscreen then this will help. If you've got the top down, practically anywhere in the car should do

The particular incident I mention in my earlier post I didhave the roof down! Sad

Now granted I was right in the middle of the "city", so surrounded by very large buildings. However I decided not to wait for a fix a start moving. Several times I was sat at red lights at large junctions where there was plenty of sky available. It's in the city when I really need navigation, otherwise I have to go back to "paper based" technology Smile

Although a re-radiating antenna definitely helps improve reception by virtual of an "amplified" external external anttenna, you must "hide" your GPS from view of the sky otherwise both antennas receive signals and it will cause inaccurate interpretation of data.

In your case of an open top vehicle travelling in city, acquiring a fix before moving should produce better result.
