Okay guys, been scouring this forum and working closely with all the tips offered.

Now I'm back to GPS 2.07 I can at least SEE COM port 6 in the GPS setup area of Memory Map.

Trouble is, despite trying all the baud rates I'm still getting a GPS Timeout alert box each time.

Can't get a GPS lock at all on Memory Map. Using an iPaq 4150 here, and outgoing port is definitely 6.

What's the next step? Genuinely flummoxed, and sincerely grateful for any help you could give me.

Any chance you accidentially put the receiver into SiRF mode? MM doesn't understand SiRF, only NMEA

Running MM 4.2.1 build 413 on an iPAQ 4150 with a Fortuna Clip-On.
PocketPC version 4.20.0, build 13252

the GPS setup screen shows

Status OK
Manufacturer > NMEA
Model > [greyed out as you don't have a choice. Begins NMEA 0183...]
Port > COM6: Bluetooth Serial Port
Baud > 38400
[blank] Debug

In Bluetooth Manager, "My Shortcuts" shows ClipOn-BTGPS: SPP slave and "Active Connections" shows ClipOn-BTGPS Generic Serial

There are sometimes problems getting the iPAQ and the Fortuna to talk to each other but these are usually cured by a soft reset on the iPAQ.

At one stage, I had galloping GPS timeouts that made the iPAQ + Fortuna useless. Removing the Fortuna battery for a minute or so cured this.

Hope this helps,

Are you currently running any Tom Tom software? I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same set-up.

I've been looking around and there appears to be a problem that Tom Tom hogs the GPS conenction even when not running.

The easy way to solve it is to get GPSGate software, but $30 I'm not too fond of that idea.

Thanks

If you have problems with not being able to use your Bluetooth GPS in other software with TomTom Navigator 2 or 3 installed, upgrade to TomTom GPS 3.07 (and, if you haven't already, and you have Navigator 3, I'd recommend Navigator 3.07 - the final version of Navigator 2 is 2.24).

If you still can't use your Bluetooth GPS in other software, turn off Bluetooth, soft reset, Start Menu, Settings, System tab, Remove Programs. Tap on TomTom ~ GPS, tap Remove, press OK when you're asked to soft reset.

You should then be able to use your third party software and TomTom software.

If the remove operation has removed TomTom GPS, you'll need to reinstall it!
