Can anyone help me regarding an a recent upgrade from 6 to version 7 for City Select?
Some of the streets that have been updated and appear on the Mapsource s/w as up to date - are not appearing as updated on the Quest unit.
I have asked Garmin tech support but they do not know why roads appear on the PC screen but not on the unit. For example; Riverdale Drive in Earlsfield, SW18.

Can anyone help

On the whole the Quest is a great piece of kit

Cheers

I don't know too much about the Quest, but I take it you have downloaded the relevant new map segment over V6 or over its your basemap equivalent, assuming the Quest has such a thing?

Hi

Yes the upgrade to version 7 has been installed and appears to work OK on the desktop. Its just the unit itself that still shows the street as under construction (a dotted line not solid)

Cheers

I think the Quest uses a dotted line for an unpaved road too - there are a couple near me shown like this. Does this apply here?

I see the same road as dotted in v7, so I don't think you have an installation problem.

It could just be that the source map data is wrong.

I'm sure there's an easy answer to this one - How do you get hold of City Select v7? 8O

If you hold a qualifying product, like V6, look here. I haven't seen the full retail version on sale yet, but I should think it's out there somewhere.

If you bought version 6 after the laucnh date of version 7 (some time in Jan this year I believe) then you are entittled to a 'free' upgrade of version 7.
You need to go to the garmin web site and download the updated maps together with a new unlock key. The guys I bought the unit from installed version 7 for me.
I believe there are some version 7 instalation CD's around but they are hard to get at this early stage

Going back to your original post, did they install it on your PC? I have emailed Garmin Europe (located in the UK) for the free v7 update CD but received no reply yet.

Garmin europe quoted me for CS V7 upgrade $100 plus VAT & Garmin US is a $100, some were on the site they say they heve to apply tax to sales to the EU.
To me it's a lot for an upgrade when the full Nav kit for the GPSmap78cs which includes Full CS V6 cost me £166.

There a lot good revisions & bug fixes to the latest Mapsource.

Waiting to see what sort of price they will ask if & when Garmin release UK OS as a Topo map

How did you go about asking? By email? Did they reply or just send a cd through the post? Confused

DPL,

I e-mailed them with my details requesting the V7 upgrade. I got an e-mail reply from Garmin Europe about a week later informing me that the disc would in the post soon and including the unlock link and instructions.
It arrived about a week later. The contact name was: Ollie Stone, Sales Support Associate, Garmin (Europe) Ltd. Oliver.Stone@garmin.com

Hope this helps! Smile

OK. I'm getting really frustrated now. I've got the Europe City Select v7 cd, I've got the unlock codes, I've loaded it into MapSource on the pc. GREAT. :D Now, how do I get the dammed v7 maps into the Quest? The option 'send to device - maps' is greyed out so it won't make the transfer. :x Exclamation Crying or Very sad
