In the GPS setup, specify "Other BT receiver" and let me know what the list of ports says. _________________ Lutz

Yes, it's the same approach as with TTN3. If you have a BT GPS then you need to replae the ttbtdev.dll with the original BTCEIF.dll - either by uninstalling "TomTom ~ GPS" once or by completely removing it and reinstalling version 2.06.
(Yes, 2.06 - not a typo. Looks like we made a mistake in recommending 2.07 - it also has the BT problem.) _________________ Lutz

I tried with 2.06 and I can't get TT to connect. The Royaltek and Pocket Navigator will connect, and the blue light will come on the receiver while running TT however the map won't show up. It continues to tell me the gps signal was lost X seconds ago.
Have you or anyone else reading this been able to get TT Nav. 4 plus other gps software to connect to a bluetooth GPS receiver? any tips, thanks |

Have you copyed the new ttgpseng.exe back into the \windows directory after you installed version 2.06? _________________ Lutz

I did a hard reset and now can't get TT to install. First I installed the application and then maps. Do I need to re-register or something to get it to appear? It's isn't even a choice in my programs.
When I extract the ttgpseng.exe do I get it from the gps.cab from Navigator 4 CD 1 or the previous version CD? Or does it matter. |

OK I got TT on my ppc. Before I run through all this again which version of CD 1 do I want to use and you mentioned you have this running on multiple machines. Are you using other gps nav. programs in addition to TT 4 on your machines with BT? |

Yes, since we are reviewing a lot of programs I have to have them all running on the same machines (we have multiple review licenses)
What is your current state - plain TTN 2004 or did you replace the GPS driver already?
You should use this order
- install TTN2004 including its GPS driver
- save the ttgpseng.exe file somewhere (it's 86KB)
- remove the TomTom ~ GPS driver (twice)
- install TomTom GPS 2.06
- put the saved ttgpseng.exe back in, overwriting the one from 2.06 _________________ Lutz

I've tried a couple times and still no joy. With regular TT it works and also turns on the BT. However other gps applications don't work.
Regarding the ttgpseng.exe, do I get this from the CAB in Tomtom Navigator 2004 or the previous version Tomtom Navigator USA? I've tried both and neither work. They're both 86k however they have different gps icons. When I change the name to .exe the con appears on the file so I think I'm doing that right. And when I dump it into Windows on the ppc it I get the replace prompt. Yes, etc.
When deleting the gps it always dissappears after the first try as far as I know. After soft reset I go to Start/settings/system/remove programs and it's no longer there. So I can't really delete a second time. When TomTom~GPS (the new version) is there I'tll work. However when 2.06 is there (TomTom GPS) TT won't work but other apps will. Both blue lights (ppc & receiver will come on) with 04 however I get the no gps position message.
Not sure what else to do? I've tried this several times |
