Has anyone found a suitable powered extension speaker for the 510. I bought a silly little one from Maplins but is does not improve volume. Thanks. Bazzaman

Hi i havent found a suitable one yet.

It needs to be powered by batts or the car batt, as it needs to have an AMPLIFIER otherwise you wont get it any louder. If anyone has any solutions please advice.

I tried a couple of things but it just didnt work out Sad

I saw a couple of speakers a while ago at Asda. £4.99 for the pair.
They were amplified and powered by a single AA battery in each speaker with a jack plug for use with personal stereos. At the time I thought they would be ideal for use with the PDA to increase the voice directions but never went back for them.

At least one person on the forum has used these to good effect.

Ive never been to Asda, but listened to someones advice and bit the bullet and walked into Asda, not a very pleasant place, first and last time i ever go there. Anyway back to the point they had some speakers but they were not amplified and they were 4.99 i was pretty disappointed Sad

Still they run on batteries, useless.

A supermarket's a supermarket in my book.
Anyway, it was before Christmas when I saw them and they appeared to be amplified. Not been back to see since so it's possible the ones you saw were different and the amplified ones are no longer sold. Sad

Hi I got my speakers from asda reduced to 4.99 about three months ago. They are made by Gemini model GU020. They are amplified with two AA batteries, but still work unamplified without batteries. They work great - I just use one of them. There were two model on sale - an unamplified version (rounded and silver coloured) and the amplified ones (thin and coloured black).

As posted on another topic. Phillips 107 active speaker, about £9.50 from Argos and on the lowest volume setting on the ICN will outdo the radio
