Hey guys n gals

I have a road angel + ipaq 3630.

I got tomtom software today and can't for the life of me get the gps signal to work! HELP!

I have set the input on tomtom to NMEA 9600, as this is what road angel outputs [supposedly] and connected road angel with a serial to ipaq cable with a male/male adapter in-between.

Can anyone suggest where i am goin wrong?!!

Cheers

Chris Bell, frustrated!

Firstly I think you need a null modem adapter and not just a male/male adapter, also IIRC Road Angel outputs at 4800 not 9600?

OK

Have ordered the null adapter, but am now worried that i am still gonna have to plug serial to ipaq cable on end to attach ipaq??!!

Will it work this way???? or do i need a cable that has a null adapter on end that links straight into an ipaq?

Null adapter should come tomorrow, so will see. Really frustratin seeing ipaq sitting there, waiting to use the damn software i've just forked out on!

Cheers in adavnce

Bells-O, that's right, you'll have to plug the adapter into the Road Angel, then connect the cable.

No pics Dave, I'm afraid, 'cos the cable I bought for the 3800 iPaq has the denull built in (as well as a "Y" connection for power from the car accessory socket).

Bells-O

Have you got the laser alert? If so, has it ever triggered? I asked Blackspot how one could test if it worked, and their reply was to grab all of your remote contols, and direct them at the laser alert as you press each button in turn - it MAY trigger it off!

I haven't tried it personally............

You can also use a strobe light or stroboscope to set off the laser sensor. This is why you will sometimes get an alert from a police car whizzing past you with its blues on.
