Are all GPS systems THIS bad?

This is my first gps system and I have not been able to compare it to others. I am very frustrated. Why can't I just type in a damn address and have the system get me there? I live in Southern California and there are some addresses that I KNOW exist, but don't in the I10. Also, why does the system divide certain cities in regions. If I want to find an address in, lets say, Glendale California, why does it then have me choose between three different regions in Glendale? Why can't it look through all three regions rather than just one at a time? It seems the only sure way to find something is to type in the stree name, address number, and choose between 99 locations. Are all other gps systems this bad?

There are indeed very few systems around that understand the special way american metropoles are organized - with city boundaries that are not clearly discernable etc. I know only two programs that allow address search by street name first rather than by city first.

These programs are Mapoplis and all the Intellinav clones (Socket, Routis etc)
