Folks,

I know the 510 has a 5 hour battery life but I would really like to hardwire a power cable into my car. I fortunately have an Audi TT and the cigarette power point is a pain to use. Does anyone know where I can buy a cable to hardwire into the car to power my 510 without either blowing up the 510 or draining my battery.

Thanks for the assist.

Chris

I too have an Audi TT, I have half hard wired it in.

I removed the Ashtray and drilled the base of the Navmans holder and attached it to the cubby hole just below the aircon unit. Now the unit looks like it was built for the car.

I also detached the cig lighter from the tray and attached the charger in the socket and added some tape to it as it was a little loose.

If you are going to hard wire please be aware that the Navman has a 5V input and the TTs Cig socket is 12V, the power cord from the Navman has a resister in it that regulates the input power to 5V, so if you are going to hardwire make sure you dont get rid of the large plastic bit that plugs straight into the cig lighter.

If your in London and want me to go through it just let me know Smile

All the best
