City Select unlock procedure

On Garmins Swedish website, the city select unlock procedure is shortly described as following:

1: Type in your code.
2: Choose unlock-alternative.
3: Type product serialnumber.
4: Choose mapregion to unlock.
5: Confirm mapregion.
6: Type in your personal data.
7: Recieve your unlock-code.

What do they mean with step 2 and step 5 exactly? Either the CD is 100% unlocked or it isnt - I dont get it. I plan to buy City Select Europe. I want complete access to the whole european region - downloading and replacing selective european map-areas to my limited 'Etrex Legend C' 24MB memory whenever I want. What does 'choose mapregion' mean? Can I only choose certain areas (for example stockholm region) from this CD once and for all?

There are two ways to unlock the CDROM. Single region or All region.

Each region covers quite a large area like "UK and Ireland" or "Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden".

Sometimes, the CDROM is sold with a single region unlock and you have to buy an extra unlock code for the remaining regions. This is why it is saying you have to choose a region to unlock. If you are buying an all regions unlock then this doesn't apply to you - the code unlocks them all.

When you actually upload the maps to your GPS, you select the areas you want from any maps that are unlocked.

Looking at my CitySelect (which is a fairly old v4), you should be able to fit the maps for all of Sweden North of Tranås into your Etrex. The maps don't have to be contiguous either, you could load the maps for London and Stockholm if you wanted to.
