I've noticed a strange thing....

When following directions on route, If I stop at a junction, that I'm meant to go straight across, whilst sat still the map rotates..

Sometime it thinks i'm sat on the other side of the junction, then it recalulates the route !!

Anyone else had this ??

Hope that makes sense....

Cheers

Your GPS position is not entirely stable, it changes over time, and sometimes makes the program think you have turned. The average GPS accuracy is 5-15 metres, so it is well possible that the program confuses the lanes on a two way street (even though it should know that the other lane goes in the wrong direction).

Most program use a "Snap to road" feature to avoid this kind of issue, Navigon is obviously not too successful at that.

I've noticed the same....

When you're not navigating and just have your unit displaying the map, when you stop at a juntion it doesnt move. It only rotates and/or plots a new route if you're actually navigating somewhere. I assume it's because it thinks you're then on foot if you're not moving or going very slowly as i've noticed when it recalcs the route it will sent you all sorts of routes that aren't suitable for vehicles.

Mine also has the same problem too..... have you also noticed the integrated poi's are all slightly out. Quite a lot of my local ones are not in the right place on the map, like the shopping centre in my town is shown on the wrong side of the high street! and one of the local KFC's is in the middle of a field.

The Naveteq data on the previous bundle from Aldi was much better than the Teleatlas data supplied this time. I think I read here somewhere that the Teleatlas data was a cheaper version, well now I know why. :o

Does anyone know whether copying the Navigon 3 map & data onto the memory card in place of the Teleatlas stuff would work with the Navigon 4 programme? I do think the Navigon 4 programme is much better.

You may be able to move to different maps. I've got MN4 and my brother has just got the latest Aldi package. I copied his UK maps onto my system and they work fine. You can tell the data is different based on the instructions given. With the Teleatlas data I was getting told to bear left on the approach to cross roads, after telling me which exit from a roundabout it would always add ' and bear left' - seemed obsessed with keeping me to the left!!!!. Also noticed that a lot of POI's were wrong by several streets in some cases.

MadPanther plans on trying to use his old maps - I spoke to him on the phone today and he was going mad as he was being told to take one way streets the wrong way etc. in Manchester.

I've gone back to my proper maps even though they are older (no M6 Toll road) as TMC didn't work with the Teleatlas maps, and thats more important than the Toll road.

Yeh, the TeleAtlas maps are pants compared to the previous Aldi/Medion package.

I'd love to know if it is possible to use the old maps on MN4 (and how!).

I had some major problems in Manchester...

'Prepare to turn left....' So I moved into the left lane..

'Now turn RIGHT' !! What ! B*****D

I was constantly told to turn left or right into the wrong way of a one way street.. The maps didn't seem to know I couldn't go there..

I may try installing the older version of Navigator and its maps to see if that works.. The old maps don't seem to work with the new software.
