The Demo and Full versions are identical, only the serial number and licence key differ.

The UK and US licence keys and serial numbers are interchangable.

The difference in country versions includes the OS and A_Z copyright restrictions, but there would be no need to calibrate an already calibrated OS map. They two country versions also use different registry directory entries so can co-exist on the PC.

In the US version you can click on a scanned map and then enter the grid references, then calibrate the map and define the map boundaries. It saves on having to manually construct the table. I have no idea why they did not inlcude this function in the OS (UK) version for self scanned maps as they have nothing to do with OS copyright.

I once calibrated an aerial photograph to use on my PDA. However whilst the co-ordinates were OK on my map the boundaries seemed to have problems when trying to merge my calibrated map to a pre-calibrated map.

When upgrading to the latest version of OS MM2004, the installer removed my licensed version of Navigator, which I needed to create self-scan maps.

Now that's down to Memory-Map, not OS .....

Cheesed off with the lack of response of MM support, too.

Don't know if I've missunderstood this long running thread but for those that are interested, you CAN scan and calibrate your own Maps. I've done this for areas in UK, Switzerland and Turkey.

1. Scan the image in and convert to 256 colours then save as a TIFF file.

2. Get GEOTIFF Examiner off the Internet for free Laughing .

3. Using GOETIFF Examiner embed the calibration data. This comprises the lat/lon for (typically) the top left corner and the delta lat/lon per pixel. A simple spread sheet can do the maths.

4. Save the modified image with the MMN stuff.

5. Refresh the MMN map list.

Don't try on too large an area as earth curvature make errors creep in. Getting 2 accurate positions to calibrate the map is the hardest bit.
