What are the differences with this other than it saying 2022? I never see any change with these updates, I mean there's a road on my travels that's had a big roundabout added to it for a new industrial estate that's been there for a good year and half maybe 2 years and it's still never appears on Garmin's "updated" maps.

A new motorway junction, and link roads, opened near me recently. It appeared as part of a map update as it was still being built, meaning that it tried to send me off the motorway at an unopened junction on some journeys. (In fairness, it opened way beyond its due date, due to the Covid disruptions)

It seems that some updates are premature whilst others are slow in appearing. Confused

I assume Garmin only know about new or changed roads from reports. Unlike Google I doubt they have a team of cars going round.

Also, it's not a simple matter of displaying a new road or junction as SatNav maps need to be coded for speed and type for the route calculation stats.

If you know of an error ....... report it.

Also noticed since the last update driving along certain places and it will all of a sudden say the road speed limit is 14mph and ping up overspeed warnings. Difficult to report this when it's not a familiar road and you're not sure exactly where on the road you are to report the fault.

Garmin's map provider has cars driving around. They have an apparatus, I presume some form of gyroscope and GPS receiver, attached to their roof.

I saw such a car, with HERE (or its predecessor) marked on it, parked up in my local town a few years ago, approached the occupants and informed them that the "marker" to the entrance to the local police station was misplaced, causing people seeking it on their Garmin to be sent to the back wall of the premises, situated in a housing estate on a completely different road. It was corrected in the next map update.

The speed it takes amendments to appear, definitely seems to have improved slightly with the change from Navteq to "HERE".

When I moved to my new abode at the end of 2019, the house wasn't marked on the map - and you couldn't select "7A" as the house number. Since I know Garmin use HERE maps and I already add an account there (https://mapcreator.here.com), I thought I'd have a go at adding it there. I also remodelled the road, moved the Post Office & the Community Shop while I was about it Laughing

These changes made the mapset from earlier this year - which I didn't think was too bad, given the pandemic etc. (I'm pretty sure it wasn't just coincidence, because the Post Office is now in totally the wrong place - which is very probably my doing Embarassed )

In mid September this year, I reported an error directly to Garmin, since I didn't know to make the change myself - I'd encountered a single-track lane that has been blocked, part way down.

The update is now visible on the HERE website, even though it didn't make this latest map update.

That's the key.

If you know of an error, report it.

I have an old Nuvi 3598LM that is not in active service, but I keep it updated 'just in case'.

This latest update really it had it struggling - "loading maps..." for an awful long time, refusing to acknowledge what maps were installed - that sort of thing.

It took multiple resets and in the end, patience, before it finally settled down and resumed normal service.

I got a similar notice for my 3590 and wondered what it had to do with a company that Garmin took over about 10 years ago.
