Over the last few map updates, I have noticed my unit using motorway maintenance compounds as references and it has previously tried to route me up the entrance to one and out of the exit. I have learned to ignore this quirk. Monday however, while approaching traffic on the M1S, that I really should have been told about before joining, my unit tried to re- route me by taking me off at Watford Gap services, using the emergency vehicle route to the NB services, before re- joining the motorway. I know Garmin routing has been criticised in the past, but this was extracting the urine!

That sounds really weird. Worth a call to Garmin.

In my book the mapping Co should not be including any non public roads. The Garmin software is presumably seeing the possibility and using it.

As has been mentioned before, sometimes a device reset after a map update can solve some routing issues.
