As long as my new compile installs OK then mine is fully up to date
I'm now on VS 2017 unless there is a compelling reason to go to VS 2019 when it's released to RC.
The bottom line seems to be that Visual Studio 2013 is not optimised for Win10 or any new .NET version. _________________ Satnav:

New Version:
As previously mentioned, I've had to update the .Net version from 4.5 to 4.7
This is for full Win10 compatibility.
Note: If you haven't got .Net 4.7 (Non Win10) you will be prompted to download it and it should provide a Microsoft link.
A change has also been implemented to check for the presence of the Direction Converter unprocessed CSV files and provide a warning.
Version 2018.12.17.79:
**Download CSV Converter (Latest Version) **
Thanks to M8TJT for putting this program through it's paces. _________________ Satnav:

I did not have any problems when I first installed the application, but Windows 10 objected to the installation this time round - "Your Administrator has blocked this application because it potentially poses a security risk to your computer". I am the administrator, and I had not blocked it!
I turns out to be a known issue with ClickOnce, although I don't know what started it in my case. A bit of Registry editing solved the problem - link here.
https://superuser.com/questions/1252575/unable-to-install-clickonce-application-due-to-security-settings-windows-10
Hopefully you will not be affected (and sorry if this has already been solved in earlier messages - I did check!) |

Strange. What version of W10 are you running jaybea. I don't have any problems with it (so far) W10 2018.3 and I have possibly installed/re-installed more times than anyone. |

Thanks for the info.
I have made some changes to the latest build that was released a few weeks ago.
As already mentioned I am now targetting .NET 4.7 and I'm using Visual Studio 2017. The whole project is digitally signed.
The Clickonce error is comical though because it's Microsoft blocking itself. Quite often UAC is the culprit.
On a similar theme I keep getting Google security warning emails. When drilling down it's because I have a range of GMail addresses for various themes but they all auto feed into a single one using Googles own POP3 export which Google identify as a third party risk. _________________ Satnav:

I think so.
One change I made was to make the database out of date warning to white on red. Nothing major. _________________ Satnav:

Sorry K, but this month I constantly get "Check Database Version Error: Unable to connect to the remote server 5".
(On occasional runs I get a similar message about Timed-out to remote server).
I've tried and again, but I'm out of ideas.
I'm running the latest CSV Converter (fed by Direction Converter), which worked successfully last month.
The error happens at different stages through each run - once it got 90% through before choking.
(NB the Direction Converter doesn't get this error).
AVG now allows the latest Converter versions to run, but even so I've turned AVG off without success. The wifi seems a firm connection per the router manager.
Does nobody else suffer from this ? Is it the fault of the PGPSW servers ?
I can't afford to be without my directional alerts being up-to-date, 'cos the cash-for-camera vans are proliferating so.

That error is the program trying to ascertain the latest database version from the PGPSW homepage, or, is the result of double clicking the red database message to update the database.
I suspect it's having a problem trying to connect programatically.
Both the Direction Converter and the CSV Converter now have the same code to get the version number and compare it with the current version you are running. If out of date will prompt you to double click to auto download the latest database.
The database is not auto downloaded, you need to double click the message.
This is then displayed in the bottom messagebar as per the previous posts above - look at my 20th Nov post on the previous page. That is when the feature was installed.
Is this function working? Plus, are you using the program to upgrade the database ? If so then you need a saved logon (cookie) to PGPSW, often via IE or it does indeed error.
Quick check is to logon here via your default browser, does it log you straight in or do you have to enter your password ?
I'll wait for your reply.
Once I know the issue I'm sure I can work round it by doing a logon test and see what happens. _________________ Satnav:

While I'm waiting:
Next time it happens put this straight into your browser addressbar and see what happens:
https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php
That is the only address I'm calling in that module _________________ Satnav:

Hi Dales. I feed CSV converter from Dir converter as well, and have had no problems since K did the mods. I haven't 'done' the most recent data, but I will do so tomorrow (off out) and report back on my experience.
Just run DIR - CSV - GPX concerters and didn't get that error.
[s]I did get another error re. no sound or picture files for a .csv that it shouldn't be checking (pgpsw_uk_comments.csv).
And another where it looks like an array address call was bigger than the array bounds, but nothing like what Dales got.
I will contact K with the details Mon AM.[/s]

I have enough info for that first one which may have followed up with that second one.
On the case ...............
1) There is already a check for "POCKETGPS" to prevent processing. I've opened this up to include "PGPSW". Hopefully that's enough.
2) I'm going to perform a link test in the CheckDatabaseVersion module to trap any error and produce a suitable message whilst continuing.
I'll post the new prog when complete. _________________ Satnav:

Ignore the above. I found that I had a rogue comments csv in my working dir from where I have been playing with verification files.
Deleted it and all is good. No errors from either program. |

There is still an unexpected error if the 'pocketgps_uk_sc.csv' gets accidentally left behind, now trapped, can't hurt.
Now looking at the update link. Can't work out why it's appearing at random because it's only called, manually, from 2 places, the download link in the top menubar and the double click from the lower menubar.
Anyway, I'm going to trap it and display a messagebox and not crash out.
Well, that's the theory. Might need a bit more info as I can't reproduce it. _________________ Satnav:
