In my Skoda it uses .vcf POI's which I originate using the Skoda Destination Portal, I can then download the POI's to the car using an SD card. These POI's are all bowling clubs that my wife and I play at, sometimes together and sometimes individually. My car as said uses .vcf files however my wife's Skoda is fitted with a Kenwood Garmin GVN60 SatNav. The Kenwood unit uses .csv or .gpx files, so I need to keep the same .vcf POI's for my car and .csv or .gpx for her car.
I would also need to update both on an ad-hock basis.

Can you advise a free program that can do a batch conversion? I have about 30 to convert and keep updated, to do them individually is long winded but if I can do it in one hit that would save a lot of time.

Any links, apps, advice or pointers gratefully received!

I've no idea of a batch program off hand but if one doesn't appear then you may have to consider an Excel macro.

I haven't seen the .vcf format, have you got a single line example.

Thanks for the reply.

Below is a .vcf file for one location:

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
CATEGORIES:VIP
X-VIPCategory:Private
ADR;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:;;Langley Road 15;Abbots Langley;;WD5 0;United Kingdom
X-NAVADDR:;;;;;;;;;
GEO:51.704712;-0.416549
X-FLAG:
REV:20141124T173822z
FN;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Abbots Langley BC
UID:AddresBookPersistentProvider3
END:VCARD

I tried a couple of conversion programs but both failed to convert the above, I think the problem is due to field mapping' GPSBabel only transferred the fields
CATEGORIES:VIP
Abbots Langley BC

All the other GPSBabel fields were empty.

I have all the club details in an Excel .xls file so perhaps it is a case of making a new .csv file folder and trying that. Best option would be a program that could convert the information as per the VCARD above.

That's Macro do-able

Grab the coords in the GEO line and the description from the FN;Encoding line.

Great, one minor problem. Apologies, but you are dealing with a total dumbo on this one.
Embarassed Crying or Very sad

Perhaps you could expand on your suggestions? I have spent around 2 days trying to get something to work with the Kenwood Garmin unit, using POILoader and trying all sorts of ways of getting something to work.
For me there are just too many options to get right and no clue as to what they all mean.
I have now made a new folder in Excel that lists the clubs as .csv files with lat and lon references. For example:
Bowling Clubs -Post Code - Address
Abbots Langley BC WD5 0EH 19 Langley Rd, Access via alley at side of Scouts HQ Hall 51.704727 -0.516542
Barnet BC EN5 4BP Old Courthouse Rec' Grnd, Manor Close, (Off Wood St) Barnet 51.652838 -0.203084
Batchwood Bowls AL3 5XA Batchwood Drive, St Albans, Herts 51.766756 -0.353802

Could you let me know how to import the above into the Garmin POILoader so they will show in the satnav menu?

Can you put the full excel file somewhere, say Dropbox, and post a link so that we can inspect the data closely?

Have you tried importing the VCARD stuff into Excel? It looks like a tect file to me, so should be simple enough. Then as above, post a link.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q1qrx1ltxr6t0g3/Bowls%20Club%20locations%202018.xls?dl=0

Hope the above works, never done this before.

I print this in landscape and cut in half so new players can use the info to find the clubs, so H~K can be deleted.

E & F are usually hidden.

Thanks for your help.

The VCARD file is in Excel format. It needs updating on some of the Lat & Lon references which I have not yet done. I will upload it anyway.

Back soon......

Certainly have, and downloaded some. Nothing worked for me!
All I ended up with was nothing or warnings about invalid files or ERROR!! and not one clue as to what the causes were.

I was trying to convert .vcf to .csv or .gpx and get POILoader to play ball.

That CSV file is close.

I haven't got my schema to hand but I think you need to switch the Lat/Lon (or is it Lon/Lat) to columns 1 and 2 and the descriptions to column 3 onwards.

If you don't get any more feedback I can look it up tomorrow on the PC.

I did a similar exercise last year converting OV2 to CSV with multiple info columns.

Thanks, you have given me hope.
I have been playing for at least 2 days trying to get something to work. I can wait for you to check it out if I do not receive answer before then.
If it's just a case of swapping columns around that would be great, AND POILoader will accept the new file.
There were a lot of 'options' and filters on the POILoader front page that I did not understand, are there any points I should look out for or make sure I select, or NOT as the case may be?

Only have 1 header line, then ...

Go with the 51.x in column 1 and the -0.x in column 2.

Then the description in Col3

Run that through POILoader and don't forget a BMP picture that matches the .CSV filename exactly.

Run with that and report back.

Link worked, but it would have been better if you had linked to the excel file, as then I will be able to play around with it for you.
