Hi,
Do you know when any bluetooth sirfstarIII receviers might be coming out. I was reading about the standard and saw a leadtek one mentioned on gpspassion.
As I'm looking to buy a new receiver I wondered if it might be worth waiting for these to come out.

Leadtek have been very quick to shout about new products but very slow in getting them into Europe and North America. It appeared to take them about 12-18 months for the Leadtek 9537, so I wouldn't hold my breath too long.
Leadtek seem to be more interested in OEM's now that will take the receiver guts and put it into a new case. I hope I'm wrong and the GPS surfaces soon as I'd like to test it. |

I see that Sirf are suggesting that a cold start TTFF of 1 second is possible with GSM based augmentation. How does this work then? Would the GPS use the mobile phone network to calculate it's position?
It sounds like an interesting way of improving GPS performance in difficult conditions, but I wonder if this would require the co-operation of the mobile phone companies who are traditionally very cagey about where their masts are located. |
