|
|
Hi All,
I've got a Garmin StreetPilot C310 which has european maps from 2013 preinstalled.
However, I want to get the latest map update which is CN Europe 2014.40 but after doing some research it appears that it's over 3GB in size.
Officially the satnav states it only supports 2GB, however on Amazon there's a listing available for a 4GB SD card:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Memory-Card-Garmin-Street-Pilot/dp/B006ONJKXU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396526424&sr=8-1&keywords=streetpilot+c310+4gb
Some third party websites also claim that it's maximum size is 4GB, however from other sites, some users can't get anything bigger than a 2GB working.
If it does support a 4GB card, should I get a class 4 or a class 10?
Thanks guys
Ash
P.S. currently running a 1GB card |

This web page implies that you have to use Mapinstall to manipulate maps on older devices (I'm guessing it's because newer devices have a different file layout).
But in any case, I don't think the Streetpilot C310 is supported by Garmin Express at all - probably because it used ye olde 'Garmin GPS Mode', rather than Mass Storage or MTP.
(I tried an old StreetPilot C510, where you get a choice of 'Garmin GPS Mode', or Mass-storage. Express only sees the device, when it's using Mass-storage mode.) |

Yes you do, that's what both our links (which are the same) are saying
But I don't believe it's due to a different map layout, just that Express won't recognise the sd card like it will on newer devices. |

When I said "This Web Page", I meant "That Web Page" ... |
