TT Start 60 keeps turning off, no power but yes there is!

Cheap fleabay Nexus 7 car charger arrived this am - worked straightway BUT only through the power sockets (it didn't want to know in the cig lighter - my car engineer friend said that this was not unusual). Continued to charge when TT satnav operating on Nexus 7. Next to try will be an uprated USB adaptor. But seems that my BMW does not like the lower charging (1a) USB adaptors as wazzzzupmate had found.
