Firstly I shall start by saying I am getting a bit cheesed off with CamerAlert for iOS.
While I was in the USA recently, I must have added around 30 new locations to the db using my iPhone while driving around Miami. Around 1/3 of them were incorrectly saved and subsequently lost as the location of the camera was placed in the sea.
And again today on a drive from Newcastle to Aberdeen, I have submitted a new Variable camera around Edinburgh and checking my submission page on the app, it has placed the location of the camera at N54.80695, W5.44999 which is in the sea near Northern Ireland.
I now cannot accurately place where this camera is on the map.
Getting very frustrated now, and surely it cannot be just me that this affects.
Reluctant to keep using the app as I have lost so much work from my USA holiday and the one new location today. Never have a location problem with the map view when driving or when using the TT app so its 100% not a GPS location issue with my iPhone. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Steve,
How were you using CamerAlert for reporting? Was the app up and running in the foreground prior to you attempting the report? If so can you check the submission map next time on the app to ensure that the marker is in the correct place.
I use iOS CamerAlert all the time for submissions and verifying and the only time I get errors are when I suddenly switch to the app and it hasn't had time to sort it's location out properly. The other times are when I don't have good cell coverage like in the USA as sometimes the GPS can be off.
I once had a problem in London when the iPhone thought I was in Dublin. Obviously using wifi location. After about 30 seconds the GPS kicked in and showed me in London.. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Mike,
I was driving with the app in the foreground as the only app running.
I had the same issue in Miami and lost about 10 new red light locations.
The location saved by the app was listed above and put me somewhere in the North Sea. I don't have any of these issues with any other GPS app on my iPhone like the Tomtom app.
Just look at my submission from today. Not sure what is going on :/

Oh and as I was driving there was no wifi to confuse the GPS location services.

Happened AGAIN today. Driving around the M9 near Edinburgh airport and went to submit a NEW fixed location and when I have gone back to check it saved ok, it hasn't.
App was running in the foreground continuously so no reason not to use the wrong location.
Location saved was at N 50.95303, W 11.890435 which is in Poland!
It did however correctly save a location previously to this one with the right location so something somewhere isn't working correctly!
