Downloaded tomtom ov2 database and copied to tomtom. full zoned etc version. Tomtom then was used to set alerts when near, all the individual titles for gatsos at different speed zones, etc, show under pois but the actual pois do not appear to be there. The size of the ov2 files on the tomtom is the same as the size on the newly unzipped database on the pc, implying the info is there. But the tomtom is not seeing it. If I choose navigate to poi etc it simply reports no poi found. Any ideas? I have the latest software on the tom-tom, west europe map, tomtom is XL with iq. |

Hi Terry, welcome to PGPSW.
It's not clear whether setting up the alerts worked or not from what you say - I suspect not. However, the ov2 and bmp files need to go in the folder with the main mapping files - it will have a name like "Western Europe ..." and not in the folder called "poi".
There are links to installation guides on the download page.

The ov2 and bmp files were indeed put into the western europe folder.
The Tom Tom displays all the headings like gatso 30 and allowed me to set up proximity warning for each category of camera - but there are simply no actual locations coming up.
Is there any other file that has to be loaded to make it work?

Do you use PC or Mac? And can you give is an example of the .ov2 and .bmp filenames you copied across, preferably by browsing your device so we can be sure they're on there? _________________ Darren Griffin |

So when you went to the "Warn when near POI" setup you could see titles starting with "pocketgps uk gatso 20", "pocketgps uk gatso 30"... etc. Yes?
If that's the case, then:
1. What happens if you go to "Navigate to.." then choose "POI" (on second screen), then "POI Near Home" and then select the "pocketgps uk gatso 30" category?
(forward arrow, then scroll down in the long list to find it).
Do you see a list of nearby cameras to choose from?
2. If you choose one from that list and let the system calculate a route, what do you see on screen if you go to "Browse map" and select "Find" / "Recent destination" and choose the camera from the top of the list?
Do you see the "30" speed limit icon on the 2D map view?
3. If not, do you have the 2D "Browse map" view set up to
i. Show POIs and
ii. show the cam files
(Go to Browse map, tap "Options" make sure Points of interest" is ticked (you MUST have "Traffic" deselected if you have it on your system) AND go to "Choose POIs" and make sure ALL the camera files are ticked in the long list).
4. Once you CAN see that icon, what happens if you do a DEMO of the route when it gets towards the destination camera? Do you get any alerts, visually and/or audibly?
Please report back in detail for all the above points, and then we can move on from there. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
