Have just changed my TT 720 for a TT 1005 ( wont say upgraded coz it ain't) Have managed to copy my POI's and favs over but cannot for some reason copy my voices.
I have a voice which speaks speed camera warnings but does not give turn by turn directions which I use all the time.
Cannot find anywhere to download this, does anyone have an idea where I might find it?
Cheers
Jake.

Are we talking about the speed cams from here?

If so, when you download the camera data you have the option of getting spoken warning files at the same time (male or female, with or without a chime at the front). Had you missed that?

Those are the new "supported" voice warnings, but the old page of various warning voices is still available here:

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-and-poi-voice-alerts.php

Perhaps the voice you've been using is one of those (do you remember what the name of the voice was?)

Some of them are incomplete or missing the odd alert (they were created before certain speed categories existed), but it's pretty easy to "double up" one of the existing warnings to cover any gaps.

Any existing voice will still work fine on your new Go, so if you still have the old unit you should be able to copy the files across

The audio files go in the POI section along with the camera files (see the instructions here) and as always, they need to have the same filenames as the camera data files they need to go with.

Help available if required... Smile

Thanks for your very quick reply Andy. The voice I was using wasn't any of those. I think I downloaded it from a site called Yourtomtom, which does not seem to exist now.

Unfortunately Richard, all the TomTom stuff was moved across from YourNav to the new forum, so it's gone for good.

However, @bigjake. I was one of the admin on the YourTomTom site, and so I may well have the content you're looking for if you can give some description of it.

Male/Female? Voice Name? What did it say?

It did not give instructions, it only gave.speed camera warnings. I think it was named no voice or silent.

Don't you need the Camera POI voice files that all TTs use?

I believe there is a setting on the Nav3 Units that gives separate volume controls for Directions and Warnings.

Or have I misunderstood previous postings on this point.

The only we used to get traditional units to have speed camera warnings spoken out but no navigation vocals was indeed to install a silent voice and select it, I am not sure if the newer Nav3 units can have custom voice files installed to them, I rather doubt it but Andy can confirm this one way or the other.
If it is possible I have the silent voice files on the PC so I can send them over by e-mail if there is a way to load them - Mike

RIGHT! Now I'm with you! Laughing

So you want to hear speed cam warnings but NOT navigation instructions?
(And you already have the voice warnings you want to use for the speed cams?)

On the old NAV2 models the only way to achieve that was indeed to have a "silent" voice installed.

You CAN still do it that way on NAV3 models (MikeA take note....) and I DO have that voice if you want it.

BUT.... there should be no need, because all the NAV3 models (AFAIK....) have a separate menu item to mute the navigation instructions but not any other sounds.

It is in the settings menu - "Turn off voice guidance".
In contrast, the setting to completely mute the audio is the little loudspeaker icon at the left-hand end of the volume bar, accessed by tapping the centre section of the status bar.
