|
|
Hi. I have Tom Tom navigation software on my PC 2003 IPAQ but need maps for Dubai, but it appears there are none. Does anyone know of ready made maps/program for Dubai?
If not, is there any software that I can use to develope my own maps for this purpose?
Thanks[/b] |

Hi and welcome.
Currently we are not aware of any street routing software for the UAE. You can create your own tracks, obviously, but that doesn't help you with street navigation. Sorry. _________________ Lutz

Hi and thanks for the reply.
Is there any program I can use to develope the street maps and use with the PDA GPS? Or tracks as you mention, what is this?
Thanks |

Unfortunately not. I asked this question last year; they have no PPC software nor any intention to market any. _________________ Tim |

It appears that the maps are created by Navteq, it probably won't be long before we see other streetmapping software using them. Probably not cheap though.
Garmin do software for the Pocket PC but I think you have to use their GPS reciever. Check out the CF-Que, http://www.garmin.com/products/cfQue/ |

I must have missed this. I've just fired off an email to Garmin to find out if the software can be used with receivers other than the cf Que. If so, I'll have the software - I have enough receivers already, or so my wife tells me.
I'd love to use my Garmin maps on my iPAQs, neither of which has a built-in CF slot. _________________ Tim |

Even if you combine them with the Oziexplorer maps? Maybe that works better?
I really wonder what the guys from Emirate1.com will be using... _________________ Lutz

Oh well, Garmin's reply came today.

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe Support.
The Garmin software is tied to the cfQue. The software will not use any
other GPS unit.

I guess I'll just have to stick with what I've got. _________________ Tim |
