Had a great time on Saturday in Stratford "playing" with the TTG but having slept on it for a few days questions have arisen...... Does the POI software warn you of a camera at all speeds or just when you exceed the limit? If it does how do people get on with the constant "bleep" in heavily populated areas.... as it bugs the crap out of me on other devices.
I have had several radar detectors (yes I know we have moved on & they are crap) I even tried a Road Angel but the constant bleeps at camera sites really annoyed me when I was already doing 29.5 MPH, I want the unit to tell me when I am going over the speed limit... not bleep at me when I am being a good boy.
Secondly..... Is the Traffic function going to be enabled when the new mount arrives....& if so any idea on the price of the mount?
Ta very much in anticipation...

Mal,
Glad you had a good time on Saturday.
The POI detection in the GO is pretty basic. That said it will only warn you once and not nagg you until you have passed the POI. Though you still get a screen indication.
As it is a POI warning system not a speed camera system the warnings are not sensitive to speed.
The TomTom product roadmap brings together the two different development streams TomTom Navigator 3 and the others some time in the future. I assume that Traffic will be available on it then. Before that can happen though some development needs to be done as there is no exposed serial (on the mount) or bluetooth function (on the GO) to allow the connection of a mobile phone. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Check out our review (Click here) it pretty much covers all the features and steps to create your own POIs. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Mike,
Many thanks for your speedy response. You have answered my questions.
I am in a real quandry with what to do here but the question doesn't fit on this thread.... So I will go digging, however I was amazed on Saturday at how good the TTG was, but this camera warning thing is harder to tie down than the boss on pay day...
Thanks again for the help.

How much free memory does the GO have for POI's?
Thanks
Simon

You can choose to be warned of POIs 'On A Planned Route' or alternatively warned regardless. _________________ Darren Griffin |

|
|
I think I've put the camera databse in properly but it seemed far easier than I thought it would be.
(All I did was copy the ov2 file and the bmp file with the same name to the maps folder in the TTG. Thats all.)
I did the same for the red-light camera's too (both files copied.)
Q: Have I done all that was required or is there more?
For example, the option to 'Add a POI' has nothing to do with putting the speed cam database into the TTG does it? Thats something different right? |

The only other thing to do is to enable the warnings either on route, or not as your fancy take you.
Due to some of the issues noted in my review I tend not to have the route option activated. _________________ Mike Barrett |
