I live in Saudi, and bought a car and the guy said to keep the SATNAV that was in it. It works great but the maps are getting out of date. It has iGo and Naviextras (so seems to be supported by them) but the trouble is I have no idea what make or model it is, so can't put in a make/model on their website to download the new maps from the Naviextras site on to the SD card - as you have to know the make and model.

It's made in China has 'Navigation System' written along the front, and there are a few numbers on the back.

Model : E-AWB100-050A (a google suggests this is a power supply), then

Win CE NET 4.2 Core
00039-230-454-994
X11-15297

Any advice on identifying it and thus enabling new maps to be got would be gratefully received. It seems silly to chuck it out when it works really well.

Regards all.

If it's a device which has a "power on" button try holding down the button for a long time 20-30 seconds. If not, try touching various parts of the screen as the SatNAv boots up, in fact try anything to bring up a BIOS screen which may contain further information.

I think that Naviextras do this deliberately, as it is generally rumoured that a lot of devices from the far east have, lets's say, dubious licensing agreements and use iGO because it is the best (so long as you don't want the bells and whistles that TomTom try to provide). The make and model of the device is really irrelevant to the maps.
Although that does not exactly help you very much. Sad
