You can get it for this price at TomTom store by using code PROMOGO550 for £50 off. Link. I already have a refurb 530 but I'm interested in the Live function as there are lots of roadworks on my daily commute. Are there any drawbacks to this deal or is it a good one? |

does this refurb unit also come with a 1 year (or less) LIVE sub like the new units do?
seems a cracking deal at £79.99. pity its uk only or that they don't do a euro version of this as a refurb. |

Refurbished units will come with one years live services but NOT a new map.
however, if you've already bought the latest map and tell them (on th phone) that you want to transfer it to the new unit they can do it (no promises here but i bought a 750 refub last week as an upgrade to my 720 - a coupel of mins on the 'phone nad they not only authorised the latest map for me but also transferred the remanign 6 months of my ongoing map upgrade subscription to the new unit - for a change fantastic customer service) Now noen of the above is guaranteed but if you're polite and explain your situation you should be OK.
BTW damn good price on that 550 - it's cheaper to buy that and then buy a Western european map than buy a refurbished 750...

My refurb 550 works well. It came with v840 maps, but when I phoned and pointed this out they gave me v860 for nothing.
My only gripe is the length of time it takes to replan the route during navigation. You are left hanging for 3/4 minutes with no information. OK if you are on a motorway and the next exit is sometime away, but not if it is a couple of miles away - do you take it or not? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I've ordered one - at this price you can't go far wrong! I'll let you know how I get on; including the expected request to get updated maps. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

I still have my trusty TT One V2, can anyone tell me how much quicker(if any) the 550 would be at route planning(typical distance up to 120 miles). Also what is the difference between the 550 and 750?
thanks |

The 550 will have UK & Ireland maps, whereas the 750 will have maps for Europe.
I can't answer the first part of your question until I receive my 550! _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

My 550 is much slower at route planning than my One XL and 530, and as I've said, replanning takes several minutes _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

! Back to £229 WTF!! For a 2nd hand device?
Maybe TT know there is a demand for the older models instead of these troublesome VIA\LIVE models.
Either way, no option to add to basket. Just recommends online sellers. |

I ordered and paid for one of these on Friday 1st July. Today, having heard nothing, I contacted TomTom and they told me they are out of stock, with their next batch due in on July 12th. They also offered to refund my payment if the delivery date was unacceptable to me. |

I ordered mine on Tuesday 28th. Delivery was attempted today, although I wasn't in to receive it. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

The web price for a refurb is now £229.99 ... I didn't pay that for mine when it was new!!! what on earth is going on ???
Regarding the time to calculate a route and re-route .... then yes it can seem like it takes forever .... probably 2-3 minutes in real life but that seems like a life time when you are wanting to reroute en-route when dealing with traffic situations .... |

It's either a misprint or a ploy to get everyone to buy the refurb 750... _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Now I've finally got hold of mine, I can report that the LMG worked without a hitch. I updated last night to map version 870.3406, and no need to contact TomTom at all.
I also upgraded to Application version 9.058. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |
