|
|
Hi,
I downloaded a KML file only containing the Bed & Breakfast POIs for the UK. However, I got an error when I tried to open the file in Google Earth 6.0.1.2032:
“Open of file Bed_&_Breakfast_PGPSW.kml failed: Parse error at line 4, column 11: not well-formed (invalid token)”
Could someone at PGPSW repair the KML download option so that special characters are properly encoded?
Thanks. |

Just downloaded it and can see the problem. It's the & in Bed & Breakfast on the "name" line.
As a quick fix, just open the KML in Notepad and replace the "&" with "and".
I don't know how easy this is to fix as the names work OK with TomTom and Garmin units etc. You can't just change it in the master database as that would mess up anyone trying to update a set that's already installed.
However, thanks for letting us know about the problem. The guys dealing with that section will have a look at it.

'&' was already be converted, correctly, to '&' in both the name and description fields for the placemarks.
however, i'd not taken into account the 'name' tag for the overall file!
this has now been fixed
