Downloaded the UK ROI map this morning in around 15mins.

Now off to added the same old corrections again...............

Same here. Took me around 15/20 min to download and install the new maps. Surprisingly, the new map appeared to have included around 70% of the local changes I (and others no doubt) submitted however. Just simple things like corrected road names, onway system changes etc. Even a new road that I submitted is now included. None of which have been updated on google maps or TomTom's own route planner as of yet.

Strangely though they still missed off major changes on the A90 and A972 in Dundee thats been reported many times to both TomTom and Teleatlas.

Have a look in this forum section index and at the top is a sticky thread that includes a download link to the latest PostCode data, its still at V850 at the moment but this usually gets an update within a few days of a new map release.

As for Home updating the PostCode files forget it, the only "wit" Rolling Eyes it has is "Quarter Wit" (yes I know the saying is "Half wit" but think about it Laughing ) - Mike

Already done the install of V850 postcodes - the question about the postcode files reminded me to do it otherwise I would have forgotten to update the file on the new Go 540.

Quite impressed by the Live services so far Surprised

Bought a 750 about 3 weeks ago...

Been happy with it so far...

Just done the update which took about 12 hours...

Then TomTom home would not install it...

Tried, and tried, did a restore, (I'd done a seperate back up as well on my PC and tried this as well...)

Nothing can get the 750 to work just going round and round in circles, error message after error message

My patience ain't good and I've just put a hammer through the 750 (and no I'm not joking...)

So its back to my Snooper Indago which has never let me down just so 'out of date' compared to a TomTom with bluetooth, live ect

But I'll never either buy or use anything TomTom ever again after my 750 experience...

If you tell us what the error messages are we maybe able to help.

ETA: I missed that fact that a hammer had already been taken to it...

That's just mad!

You said you were happy with the 950...

Then you had one bad experience, most of which is nothing to do with the device itself. Everyone has said the download servers are overloaded, and it will get better once the rush to update subsides.

We could have at least tried to talk you through a restore or reload of the system.
But you trashed it anyway?

You're not related to this lady by any chance are you? Shocked

Waste of a hammer really. To really make an impact you should have put it through TT's front door.

Good to see TomTom are still leading the way forward. One day they might get it all to work.

I take it the people who downloaded the maps quickly had also installed the critical update for home? Just wondered whether this version of home was suspect.

I have installed the new home and my download is still crawling, Sky BB by the way.

I had the new updated Home before installing the new map. Download was fine. Again looking through the thread it must be down to ISPs that the download speeds vary. I can't see how anyone can blame TomTom when one person downloads in minutes and the next takes hours. If everyone had slow downloads maybe.

Now into third day with a 45 hour estimated time left on this attempt to get W & CE map. But I will get a server timeout in a couple of hours and start all over again.

I've been trying to download the map update from work for a couple of days now, but keep getting the message:

"HOME was able to connect to the TomTom server but did not receive any data from the server"

My link is definitely not throttled, and it usually downloads the 2Gb file in 10 -15 minutes.

I'm guessing that it's caused by an overloaded server, unless anyone knows of another reason for this message.

Into day 2 for me, too!

At every attempt, I get a "Unable to connect to" and "TomTom server" time out! Internet connection is perfectly OK otherwise!!
