I have been attempting (I think successfully) to download approximately 1800 Campsite POI's to my Garmin Nuvi 255W (UK and Europe).

The installation reports success, but when I attempt to view the sites, I can only see the first 52. Does that mean I have only downloaded 52, or are they the 52 nearest my current location, and others will be come viewable as I get closer?

I'm sure you are right - but you can check to make sure by setting somewhere else as your 'current' location, if your nuvi has that option ('Set Loc' option when browsing the map), and seeing what's displayed then.

Yes, you'll only see the 50 or so nearest ones to your current location.

Thank you both. I cannot seem to Set Location on my Nuvi, it is not there when browsing on the map, but feel reassured that the data is saved accurately and will be able to navigate to additional ones when in France.

You need to have the GPS off (Tools - System - Settings - Simulator ON) and then you'll get an option on the Browse Map screen (Where To? - Browse Map) to "Set Loc"...

Spot on! (well nearly - it is Tools - Settings - System - Simulator ON - but that is being very picky) and yes, yes you were quite right, Set Location when browsing the map and closest 52 (13 pages of 4) POIs become viewable, so now I am totally reassured, and can travel to France confident that all the campsites I wanted are available on the Nuvi, (and also on a map). Thanks so much.
