I use to use TT5 on a pda. (a little out of date I thought). I now have a TT Go 520 with latest maps and apps.
I've subscribed to Map Updates (4 quarters), I've noticed Map errors, where a roundabout has existed for the last two years. Also I've noticed that the Advanced Lane Guidance is Wrong, in at least six places on the way to work.
One of these has caused an accident where a lorry was in the wrong lane as advised by his TomTom, and he crashed into me! These road layouts have been in place for over the last 3-4 years, why are the maps so out of date?
It surprises me, that they don't seem any different to my TT5!
Any one like to comment? Where do they get the data from. |

Maps are always out of date. Arguments rage over whether Navteq or Tele Atlas (the two main map providers that EVERYONE uses) are better or worse that each other in various countries. Paper maps were always just as bad, you just didn't notice it.
ALG is pretty poor, but it's a pretty new technology and there are one hell of a lot of junctions to survey.
Any driver that causes an accident throughfollowing his satnav rather then his eyes doesn't deserve to be on the road. |

TomTom in their infinite wisdom seem to think that 5 years out of date is acceptable - Their live services are just as bad, I was looking for cheap diesel in Preston yesterday & according to Live Services there was a local garage selling it for 0.98 ltre & numerous others at about 1.02 - I wish - maybe they live in a time warp |

I'd just assumed wrongly, that TT Go 520, may have had more updated maps than my TT5!
So, I wonder if I'll ever get an updated maps in 12 months for my subscription, I'll be asking for it back, if I don't get four updates!
That was the agrument with the lorry driver......he said I was in the wrong lane, and TT was right! Bloody good job I stopped in time, otherwise the wagon and his trailor would have written me and the car off! |

You will get 4 map updates, just don't expect to see many changes. |

Even 'TomTom approved' Map Share updates don't necessarily get onto the next map, or the next, or .................................. |

And just to add fuel to the fire, aren't we due a map this month?
IIRC the last map was sometime around 20th November?
edit: correction 24th November, thread started by DennisN here |

Not bad then! Only two days late on one release, otherwise they've always been early. |
