|
|
When connecting to Tom Tom Home tonight a new Tom Tom navcore application has been made available to download on my 540.
The Tom Tom web site refers to this as:-
Version 8.370
(TomTom x40 LIVE)
Improved RDS-TMC support in non-LIVE countries
Improved user interface
Improved functionality
Installed ok for me using the latest Beta Tom Tom Home version 2.7.0.1761 including a restart where you have to reply Yes to connect the Tom Tom to the computer.
Tom Tom 540 Live unit appears to be operating correctly after the update.
Not sure where the improvements on user interface and functionality are other than it appears to move between the menus quicker. A pity Tom Tom do not provde some more in depth details.

It's only offering App 8.351 for my 520. Perhaps 8.370 will be made available for the older devices soon, with the release of a new Map fairly soon? _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. This update is x40 specific AFAIK, for users that have these devices once updated you should notice a marked improvement in the time taken to acquire a GPS position fix when switching the device on - Mike |

I am going to give it a try...Wish me luck!
Though I have always found my 940 to get a fix pretty quickly. My one wish woul dbe for a cancel button on the "Fastest/Shortest..." screen as I always tap the wrong destination and have to let it start calculating before I can go back and do it again.

940 satellite pickup time is nice and quick again. Better than new! Much quicker map loading times on the map browser. Also, general software speed greatly improved.

Yes the GPS fix times in this release have been substantially improved.
Also a few icons from the LIVE services have been removed that were not needed! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

New Home and Navcore 8.370 seems to be running fine.
The full code for the navcore I have is 8.370 (336164/090717) Is that what you wanted? |

Actually why did you need to know that as you have the same device and navcore? Just wondering

I noticed that this update deleted my add-on files from the bin folder and I needed to reinstall these.
The HD traffic icon still always brings up the screen telling me I could have used the traffic bar and this cannot be disabled.
Has anyone noticed if the screen stopping updating problem still occurs, I have not had this problem yet on this version but have not driven any distance? _________________ Drivelux |

Ah is that were the screen freezes and you have to tap in to a menu and click done to get back to the front screen?
I complained to TT and got the usual "do this, that and the other" and clear flashed it. On its first use it froze, crashed and rebooted and seems to have worked fine since then. Driving 220 miles to Edinburgh tomorrow so first chance to give the new Navcore a road trip so will let you know if it misbehaves!

Are you going up the east coast via Newcastle? If so, be prepared for some delays around the Angel of the North. Major roadworks for the next 3 weeks! You will see the Average Speed Cameras on the DB where the works are going on!
Just a friendly heads up! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Updated my 740 (noted also a new version of Home for Mac). No problems to report. |
