Got my GO720 at last, made a mess of updating – but TomTom support line was excellent and helped me put it right. Love it – except for one thing – very poor voice level for directions (even at full volume) – which is the main thing I need it for. Very, very disappointing. When I researched it I discovered that the voice could be “put through” the FM radio channel – which I felt would be great. Unfortunately, it was only after buying it, that I discovered that this is not allowed. So, am now going to have to sell it. |

You can output the navigation voice through the FM Transmitter, in order for this to work you also need to have the mp3 player active, you can either install some music to the device or an SD card and play that.
Or if all you want is spoken navigation instructions without music put a silent mp3 track on the device and set that playing in a constant loop, this fools the device in to thinking you have music playing and lets you get the navigation instructions via the radio. For a silent mp3 track click Here and locate the post by Andy_P who created the file.
Better methods for audio output are the Line Out (if your stereo has an aux input socket), or Bluetooth if your stereo supports A2DP, or you fit a Bluetooth car kit to work with the device - Mike |

Go to "Change Preferences", then "Volume Preferences".
Is the "Link volume to noise level" option ticked? If so, untick it, and see if this makes any differece. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Thanks for the replies – much appreciated. I’m working through them at present (non-tekkie, me – which means I have to think!) and see what I can do.
Once again thanks for your help. |

Belated update: low sound level was cured – thanks to Daggers' advice – I unticked the “Link volume to noise level box” - appreciated. So, will see how this is over the next few days.
