Can anyone tell me if I can run Igo 8 on my Mio C710. If so what are the problems in doing so, if any?

Did I? I din't remember. Perhaps it's because I am getting old and decrepid. I'll have a look at my own posts again.

That's the one that I found as well and have re-read it. However, in this post, I thought that I asked a different question although perhaps it looks similar.

The super answers from Sal and Retty last time were substantially about the features, which is what I asked about.

What I want to know this time is: Is it just a case of sticking the Igo 8 SD card in the top of the 710 and away we go? I very much doubt it as the 710 is locked up to MioMap. So other than sticking the SD card in the slot, what else needs doing and are there any problems? I don't want to spend out on it if it's a pain in the bottom to install and maintain. I'm not too concerned about BT as my car has got hands free.

It's a while since I delved into the C710 (although it's still in use), but ISTR it's not exactly 'locked', just has has an autostart link for the OS.
A PM to Retty will probably get you an answer.
My main beef with iGO8 is the price. If you are prepared to pay that much you might as well buy a whole new satnav unit.

Myhm, it's a point. Let's calculate the iGo8 use cost:
~£ 130 for iGo8 Europe SD card;
~EUR99 TeleAtlas update..4 times per year...
and another regions (i.e. Romania from TA is much worse than local version, European part of Russia is not a part of the Europe set, hollidays in Egypt with iGo8 etc.).
For such quote I can have man with map and red flag in front of my car Laughing

Taking all things into consideration, I think that I'll stick with MioMap 3.2 for a while then. A man with the red flag would make things a lot safer though Very Happy
