Somewhere on the SatMap site it suggests backing up your map cards in case of loss/corruption.
I managed to backup two 1:2500 maps via my card reader OK but it wouldn't read the two UK North & South 1:50000 maps. After ringing SatMap it transpires thet these two maps at least are written to 4GB High Capacity cards and hence you need the appropriate card reader to read them.
This is just in case anyone is finding the same.
Secondly, the SatMap telephone number is an 0845 one which does not fall within most inclusive call plans. The one suggested on "Say No to 0870" doesn't work.
SatMap very kindly gave me 01372-869078 which is their reception and they will put you through to whoever you need.

Did you use special backup software or just copy the files to another drive?
I tried Norton Ghost and RescuePRO but they don't work with the file formats.
Thanks |

Thanks, I have done that now. I wouldn't want to corrupt them.
Have you ever verified the backup, by putting the files onto a fresh card and testing on the active10? |

You cannot do that. The map files are locked to the card they were supplied on for obvious reasons.
The backup is recommended in case of file corruption in which case you would format the original card and then restore the files.
If the card itself is damaged or otherwise unusable then you would need to refer to Satmap. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I will need to be extra careful not to drop or damage then.
Thanks. |

Memory cards are physically pretty robust. Installed in the Active10 I can't think of many ways in which you could physically damage one! _________________ Darren Griffin |
