Hello,
I am new to the Forum so I have tried a few searches first.
I have a question that may just a straight "NO".
From the Main Menu there is a Map Packs option on Lower Left.
I hoped that this would switch from the SD Map to the default.
It just shows the "cover" of the SD card with Cancel/View Map.
Is there a neat way to revert to satmap or do you eject the SD?
Thanks
P.S.
I am pleased with the satmap so far, but I am disappointed by the list of broken promises that came with this product some from the retailer and most from the box and contents:-
No Internet downloadable maps.
No PC Route Planner.
The Full User Guide is graphic PDF (no searching or index).
No User Forum or shared resources at satmap.com.
No compatibility with Memory-Maps etc.
A very limited "gpx" import and export capability. |

Welcome to the forum, to switch back to the base map simply zoom out and once you get far enough out the scale will auto change going back to the base map, zooming in again will auto switch to the map on the SD card.
The PC Route planner is something quite a few of us would like to see, last I heard was the legal team are still sorting issues out with the Ordnance Survey. As an interim stop gap try the OS GB Mapping by the HUG that can be found by clicking Here
This very forum section on Pocket GPS World is well supported by quite a number of Satmap active10 owners, if you have issues with the device or functionality have a look through the posts or ask a question on the forum, it will be answered and SatMap do look at the contents of this section from time to time.
You can import/ export routes from Memory Map, but the actual maps are in a very different format to that used by the Active 10. - Mike |

Thanks Mike,
The reason was to get street views in city centre but zoomed-out a bit. This went over the threshhold to the OS 1:50k map. I flipped the SD card out as a quick fix but I would rather keep it in and sealed just switch the map.
This is probably an easy firmware correction for the future.
I used the GPX export from LiveMaps which is great if you are in a zone with very high resolution Aerial photography cover. This is also FREE! |

Until Satmat get their's online, you might like to try this as an alternative.
http://wheresthepath.googlepages.com/wheresthepath.htm Enter a place name top left to get the map in right area. You can click on the "GPX" button bottom left and paste in the text from a route and then zoom in.
Not used for a while so best if you have aplay. |

Thanks - I'll try that too.
I have just updated Google Earth to check their exports.
I managed to get some POI's imported from Live Maps yesterday along with a path - today I can't seem to repeat the trick!
Any attempt at cut and paste in the .map file using a text editor that i have tried seems to screw it up. I was trying to move POIs from one folder to another for organisation but satmap is weak in this aspect too! |

This is most impressive!
With satellite view next to 1:25k and easy route plotting.
The gpx import works really well too!
Is there a good way to sort and import POIs? |
