I'm tempted..do I go for the Touch HD, or Touch Pro ? And just what are the significant differences ? I shall load my TT onto it...despite being the ancient TT6. Thanks. |

The main difference is the larger 3,8" WVGA screen fitted to the Touch HD, this might at first seem attractive but there could be problems with some software not working correctly due to the screen resolution being non standard.
The HD is also 6MM thinner than the Touch Pro as it has no slide out keyboard, The HD also has the better 5M Pixel camera fitted whereas the Touch pro has the more standard 3,2M Pixel.
The HD would be the one I would go for in selecting between these two, but I would want to know more about software compatibility relative to the screen layout before purchasing it.
If you need the slide out keyboard then the Touch Pro, but I have yet to find any phone with a decent slide out keypad, these days I prefer the thinner devices having carried around phones that have resembled bricks for the last few years - Mike |

Mike, It might be worth you having a look at This Thread which is asking very similar questions, that forum will have users of the hardware and will therefore know/ report which GPS applications work on the device. - Mike |

I am seriously considering getting the Touch HD when it is widely available in the UK. That said, the benefits from spending so much upgrading my current Orbit2 (Touch Cruise/Polaris) are probably outweighed by the high purchase price. |

Touch HD is now available on Orange at ridiculous expense. Since they are reported to have a two month exclusivity deal, wait until after xmas to see the TMobile package.
It may be comforting to know, Tomtom and iGo can work at 480x800 as can be seen in this foreign youtube clip.
Additionally, anyone using a WM device with the accelerometer should install GSen. This freeware app adds the rotation function to ALL screens and applications. |
