Been looking around for an all-in-one and came across these on Ebay. On the face of it they seem to have a good spec and being Win Mobile OS can load alternative Nav software. So the question is has anyone taken a chance with one of these (or similar) and if so what do you think??

I would suggest you save your money, that device is running Route 66 version 7 which was a very capable application in its day, but bear in mind the map will be over two years old since it was released. Quite a few major roads have been altered since then A1M, A1 M62 etc and you will be driving off map with no navigation on any road that has been altered.

Also bear in mind that you will not be able to update this device without paying considerable money, go for a device from a reputable supplier, TomTom or Garmin are better bets to be honest - Mike

Thanks Mike. As its a Win Mob OS I was thinking of dumping the nav software that comes with it and using something like Co-Pilot Live, so just looking at it from a hardware point of view. Actually I already have a Garmin Nuvi250 which is a great bit of kit, but find i need more functionality from the software such as routing and tracking. To get these from the likes of Garmin is a bit of a wallet emptier and your stuck with proprietry sofware.

Our Chinese cheapie took us from Scotland to the front door of Dracula's Castle in Romania without a flicker, (and back) - it was 1st class!

As for the mapping not being up to date, well it's more up to date here than the latest tomtom maps which still aren't showing a 2 - 3 year old by- pass.

As far as I'm concerned it was an excellent buy.
