|
|
I am playing with TTN7 on a PDA,One of the added benefits is that it warns if speeding and sounds one of the Tomtom standard sounds i.e. bell, siren, etc.
Prior to the ogg files being used their was programs that you could change these sounds to spoken voices, can anybody point me to one of these so I can change one these to a voice something like You are exceeding the speed limit or preferably enter own voice file. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

TTN7 supports.ogg files. The .chk file method you may be thinking of was dropped with version 6.
We have .ogg files fro download on our voice files page or you can make your won with an Audio App such as Audacity. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Yes Darren I apreciate these were ttn5 sounds, i am already using ogg files, I have not delved into it yet and am not sure how this warning is triggered, presume its internally because it is not a POI in the normal sense, initually it seemed the easier way to use these files perhaps, i will have to delve further. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

Just download and or make your own .ogg file, save to the "Sounds' folder and it will then be available to choose. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I wish it was that easy Darren, What do i call it, because its not an added poi or any other added item, what makes the call, presumably its picked up from the map data and therefore an internal call to a .chk file and no .ogg sounds show on the settings, bear in mind i havent really investigated this yet. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

Ah, I thought you'd stated the sound was selectable from the built-in bongs and bells? If not then it's hard coded and can't be changed. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Soory a little misunderstanding. Yes they are selecting the built in bongs, bell etc, but only these are available which i understand are coded within the data.chk file, which is why i considered the old rejigged .chk files which if i remember one of the progs you could actually input your own voice or leave the std sounds still in, relying on memory(not always a good thing) i seem to remember one originally being done by predator on the forum, shall have to do a bit of searching. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

Ok, well try an experiment for me, download one of our voice packs, doesn't matter which one. Extract the files and choose a sample alert.
Rename it to something obvious such as AJ2052 and copy into the sounds folder on your TomTom installation. I don't have direct experience of v7 Navigator but if there isn't a 'Sounds' folder try creating one.
Restart TomTom and then see if that new sound comes up in the options list.
Version 7 no longer uses .chk files, all sounds are either .ogg or hard coded. It is possible on PND's to change the sound if you follow the steps I have detailed so this might work also for TTN7.
if it works then all we have to do is find a suitable alert you like or create on yourself in .ogg format. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Ok Darren, I have got to admit you are a gem, works fine i did as you said and no sound folder but created one, renamed ogg file to overspeed, unticked the overspeed setting then reticked and low and behold overspeed shows as last entry, tested and and worked fine it was actually a 70mph mobile camera alert,
now the queries
a) wondering what will happen if install europe map, possibly have to change setting to reflect new file called ???kmh.ogg (havent got europe map yet anyway)
b) not sure about your statement re 7 not using .chk files, i am using celeb voices and these are all .chk files and also in same voices folder are dat01.chk and data02.chk along with associated.vif files these appear to be original TomTom files but not certain, all these are working fine, note not questioning you just giving info.
Anyway all i have to do now is create an .ogg file with necc info, and many thanks for your help,it as saved tons of searching. _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

I can't answer the query re. a Euro map requiring a new file sorry. My reference to no longer using .chk files was for system alerts and POIs, I realise voice files still use .chk format sorry!
Glad it worked! _________________ Darren Griffin |

A quick tip if anybody wants a Quick POI spoken sound within a couple of minutes follow this:
goto Code: | http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php |
Type in the words you want to speak and test, then save as file.
Load file in Audacity, do nothing but save as ogg.orbis file.
Then rename as poi you want to use and load in tomtom or other.
Job done, its quick and easy. I used the default Crystal voice which is clear and volume perfect and i used it say _ you are exceeding the speed limit_ for the above.
Perfect
havent found a way of putting a siren or similiar in Audacity yet, although it has various tones to experiment with, but time will tell unless somebody has a quick tip for that _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |
