Hi,
The Keomo is a wince 4.2 based unit. To get explorer up and working you only need to edit one line in the registry.
Using a program like CEregEDITOR from an xp or vista pc
1. Backup the registry from your Keomo
2.Open HK_LOCAL_MACHINE folder
3. Open init folder
4.Edit Launch50 key, replace YFShell.exe with explorer.exe
5. Save to Keomo
Switch power off using switch on the side and when you restart the machine you will have a windows explorer screen.
Hope this helps
Regards
Alan |

Alan, thanks for this info - should be very useful. I am, however, rather nervous about making changes without knowing how it will affect the unit afterwards!
Having made the suggested changes, will the original Main Menu still come up to allow me to get into the normal Navigation programme? Or would Explorer prevent this from showing? |

These changes will allow you to use the device just like a pda except that any short cut created on the desktop or changes made to windows will revert back to factory defaults when you switch the power off.
The keomo menu is YFSHell.exe in the windows directory which links to MobileNavigator.exe on the sd card in the MobileNavigator folder.
I have manged to get TT6 working but you do need to install all TT6 onto the sd card.
To revert back to normal just replace explorer.exe with YFSHell.exe in the registry as described above.

Hi,
I've managed to get TT6 working on this device but the GPS seems to jump between locations - showing me in one place in one second and then another a second later. Makes the TT6 map jump around a lot. Any suggestions? Did this happen to you?

I just recently bought a Keomo PND with wince 4.2 operating system. I edited the registry to be able to open up explorer.exe and installed Route 66. When running route 66 from windows explorer it works like a dream but unfortunately I cannot get it working through the yfshell.exe programme. I have edited the filename and folder from route 66 to mobile navigator and changed mobile navigator to mobilenavigator1.exe so that yfshell opens r66 instead of the navteq on board software.....
So to sum up I would like a way of getting route 66 to open through yfshell or to open instead of yfshell??
Please help....... |

Hi all,
Did anyone manage to get route66 or tomtom 6 working from the software front end. I have just bought a Keomo from Maplin's (only £69) and the onboard software is ok but it's still not as good as TOMTOM etc. I have a legal copy of TomTom on my PDA which I would like to install on to the Keomo. Has anyone been able to achive keeping the original bootup screen but changing the gps software? |

I'm nearly there -I can get TT6 to run from the SDcard, but it can't find the maps. I know you need to edit the "Curent map" file, but what to change it to?
I've tried \SDMMC\Great_Brittain_Map\ but that doesn't work.
Any suggestions? |

"4.Edit Launch50 key, replace YFShell.exe with explorer.exe
5. Save to Keomo"
OK, but can anyone tell me, how can I save it to the Keomo?
I tried everything, but if I restart the device, always stays the original regisry file, and the menu. |

get it working from YFShell you need to create/modify the shell.ini file on your sd card to tell the shell where to look.....should read something like this........\sdmmc\navigate7.exe.......for Route66 |
