Hi I am new to the whole sat nav on a smartphone, I have just bought a HTC Touch Diamond with integrated GPS receiver. I want sat nav and maps on my phone that will use the internal gps receiver, i.e. i do not want to use a bluetooth receiver. I have seen a few pieces of software but the Touch Diamond does not have a memory card slot so i am also wondering how to install it onto the phone, and what is the best software? |

Any navigation software that isn't locked to the micro SD card will work fine on your phone, avoid i-Go8 and McGuider/ Sygic as these two are locked to the SD cards ID so they won't work with your device.
Have a look at TomTom Navigator, although this is quite old using maps that are around 2 years old, or wait and see if they release version 7 for general use, currently this is only available on the hardware you own when purchased in Germany.
Co-Pilot Live is a decent application that will work, Route 66 is another that will work but I wouldn't recommend it due to the non existant custom POI support. - Mike |

http://www.inavcorp.com/announcements.html is a link to the 2009 versio of iGuidance. So far its come on DVD so you can install on to your Touch Diamond. Fairly good software I understand, based on reviews. But the PocketPC version is only coming out in August. Also Oncourse Navigator is said to be excellent, and they usually only sell on Micro-SD but they might make an exception for Touch Diamond users. See http://www.oncoursenavigator.com/forum/default.aspx?f=10&m=6699 and there might be answers. I'm looking for software too, and the choice is between iGuidance and OnCourse Navigator. |

thanks for those, have been doing a bit of digging myself and found CoPilot Live 7 - they say it can be installed on the Diamond even though the website says needs a Micro SD card and from what ive heard they quite good. Any thoughts? |
