|
|
I've purchased a set of replaceable screen covers as the original was really scratched after three week (and so is the internal screen which is REALLY annoying)
The replacement ones are clearly inferior. They lack the foam spacer strips so they rub on, and futher scratch, the internal screen.
And they are not clear. The surface on the front and rear is mottled and uneven. This both looks horrible and reduces visibility.
Anyone else noticed this?
I have emailed Satmap, but so far no reply. |

Sorry this is not going to be any help but I am intrigued by your post. Might the mottling be a non reflective finish intended to give better visibility in bright light?
Also I noted some time ago someone suggesting putting screen protector film on the inner screen. Has anyone tried this it sounds like a good idea to me. _________________ LostMike

Hi,
i have thought of polishing the screen. it does seem incredibly soft.
what happened was i was out walking in the rain.
the rain carried in some grit and rubbed holes into the screen.
the screen is far softer than this on mobile phones or garmin gps units.
i don't want to put a screen saver on as that is a further layer obscuring the screen.
i don't think the mottling is an anti reflective coating - if it is it's a very shoddy coating as it is lumpy and bumpy.
still no reply off satmap - i supplied them a photo of the problem |

From reading posts and my own experience e-mail to Satmap tend to fall into a Black Hole. Suggest a phone call. As it happens I'm expecting a set to be delivered from Amazon - hopefully tomorrow. I'll report on their state when they arrive. |

I think a similar thing was reported a while back and the user hadn't removed the clear (ish) plastic protection film applied by the manufactures, can you make sure there is no protective film on either side of the new cover? - Mike |

I have just received a set of screen covers this morning. Inside the Amazon packaging - The box was sealed in a plastic bag.
Inside the box each screen was separated by a cardboard partition.
Each screen had its own plastic envelope.
Each screen had protection film on both sides. There was no sign of any blemish on the screens once the protection was removed.
I would suggest you phone Satmap as obviously you've received a duff batch. |

No foam strips on rear. Suggest you try Amazon, while the price is the same as quoted by Satmap they can be sent free delivery if you are prepared for a short delay. As at 21:35 they were still being shown as in stock. |

I am thinking of protecting my screen using a PDA screen protector. However I am not sure which one to get as all the on-line sites seem to specify them by PDA model rather than size.
Does anyone else have any experience of using these and can anyone suggest which size to go for?
