Hi,

I am an intruder from the Garmin forum so please be kind.

I have had a Garmin i3 for years and have just upgraded to a Nuvi 350T for the traffic part of the system. Unfortunately this does not work particularly reliably.

I have spoken to Halfords who have agreed to take the unit back, I am trying to work out what my best option is. The way I see it, I have the following options:

1 - Return the Unit as faulty and try another one.
2 - Return the unit and get something different (TT?).
3 - Get a refund as it is not fit for purpose.

What are people's experiences here? Does traffic work on TT?

To give you an idea I live in Hampshire and work in Surrey.

At home I may get a little traffic info.
On the M3 (including passing over the M25) I get no traffic.
Between the M3 and work I may get a little traffic.

The same applies on the return journey.

Many thanks for any help.

Trev

The problem with TMC has been well covered here. The signal is very weak in the UK and is prone to having out of date data. Basically it works but badly. I think TomTom integrate it into their units better with the sliding scale down the side, but at the end of the day until the signal is improved it'll always be a secondary function for me....

Hi trevf, i thought this was covered in your recent thread HERE

TMC it isn't go get any better in the near future - unless as was stated before, the unit has a better aerial, or aerial is 'moddied', or you live or travel in an area with better TMC transmission, it is always going to have problems.

My option isn't any of the three listed, I think the only answer is that if the Sat Nav does everything else you require than keep it, or exchange it for an upgrade with more or less functions, but don't expect a lot from TMC in the near future, to work at 100% everywhere, this country isn't ready for it yet.

trevf - If you post a thread on a subject, please go back to it, instead of starting another one. I thought this looked familiar.....
