Hi All,
Ive created a new POI category with some ear breaking warning noise for myself to remind me to keep a look out and (watch out) for these cameras tomorrow and on my return mid week.
Perhaps a suggestion is you guys do the same as a reminder until there is a definate answer to the status and whereabouts to these cameras.
Cheers

Have had a look at this camera, I am sure that these are the same cameras as on the M42. Dont think they have finished installing as there are lanes without them fitted. will take pictures over weekend if possible.

I'm rigidly sticking to the limits but some are still tooling along the outside lane at 80+
I suppose once this stops we can assume they are live and NIP's have been issued? _________________ DashCam:

Either the cameras are not yet active OR are using a different radar band (Don't think it is the inductive loop type, and there appears to be a seperate detector on the gantry). My snooper S5 didn't detect anything from J20 to J12

Hi Alan,
Can you just confirm when you say you didnt get `anything`.
Do you mean nothing other than the known speed cameras already in the varible gatso database,
or it didnt pick up nothing at all, in which case means that they are all dummies including the ones in the database?
If they are new cameras then they could be on a new radar band unknown to the snooper??
Cheers

I don't see the point in installing camera boxes if they are empty.
As per the M42, word will soon get about and the speedsters will continue.
I saw a Range Rover this morning barrelling down the outside lane doing probably 100+ _________________ DashCam:

ALL of the old cameras have been removed, mostly as part of the road widening project. Those that were left have also been removed.
Part of the road widening project was the installation of new digital cameras and supporting network.
As I said , I set the snooper to warn on every band and got absolutley nothing the entire trip. Even when the limit signs were active.
My guess it these are HADECS which may or not be certified for speeds over 60mph (they were NOT in 2006, but that could have changed).
I suspect they will flash, but I don't believe they are active yet.
I usually do the trip on a motorcycle, so until better information is available I'm now assuming that they are operational and work at all speeds.
If you are watching for them I'm pretty sure this is true
None are fitted to any bridges.
None are fitted to any matrix signs.
None are fitted to any gantry which has a solid front/rear.
None are fitted to any gantry that doesn't have variable speed signs.
So your watching for the mesh type gantry with illuminated variable speed
signs. These were built with cutouts in the bars to allow fitting of the cameras.

Very strange.
I definately see some gatso looking grey boxes on gantries last week.
Im not saying they are active - but something is there.
I guess this also does ask the question of the validity of the other fixed varible cameras currently in the database for the M25 if you say your snooper found nothing?
Be interesting to see what other members report and details available.
Personally speaking, i think im going to be very careful!

The new cameras look just like the old Gatso's, but smaller. same battlship grey, but with a seperate unit which I'm guessing is the radar unit.
If you look at the PocketGPS database map, you will see all of the original camera positions have been deleted. |

The only way your going to see a flash during daylight is if your travelling in the opposite direction when one goes off.
So far I've not seen any flash but don't some digital cameras not require a 'flash' ?
Your right on the locations, it's not every gantry but just some that are type that you can't see through = sneaky. _________________ DashCam:

Something I've noticed lately along there is succesive gantries with the national speed limit sign showing. Not always, but quite frequently in the evenings the last 2-3 weeks. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Hi All,
I travelled that section today, and at last got some pictures. They do have inductive loops in the road which can clearly be seen in my pictures.
Plus I travelled the section from J10-J15 to get to the M4 and my Valentine 1 Laser/Radar detector did not go off once, indicating either they are not switched on or they use the inductive loops like the Monitron Cameras.
Here are the pics just before the M4 and looking back the other way.
Hope this helps everyone!

Last night I noticed at least one solid gantry with camersa fitted, so I would be careful with assumptions. _________________ Go740L App 9.510 Europe 985.8155

Hi Anita,
I was in my microlight, I was worried about Heathrow Air Traffic Control, but being as I was so low the radar did not pick me up!
No Seriously I noticed there was a bridge nearby, so I set that road as a favourite, then got Tom Tom to get me there,
Sorted,
