I have a large numbers of Marks on my PocketPC which I search using the List facility. However, I cannot find any way to sort these alphabetically. Can this be done?
Also, is there a way to List overlays on the PC version? The option does not appear in the Overlay menu.

Not too sure what you are asking here but...

On the PC, if you select a mark (or track etc) and right click then selecting properties should bring up another window with details of the selected object. To the left of this window should be a list of all the "overlays". If you have placed them into different categories these should be sorted alphabetically within each category. If you haven't sorted them then there will be one alphabetic list - with the possibility of multiple same name entries. It's worth the trouble sorting them into categories as you can then select which categories you want displayed at any time. I tend to create a category for each walk - then I can have the routes / waypoints etc listed. It makes it simple to transfer to a GPS as you send the whole category in one go. (Right click on category and Send to GPS). Not sure about your question on the PPC - I haven't used it in anger for a year or so - prefer to use GPS and printed map.

Had a quick look on my DELL AXIM (which has a copy of 5.1.?) on it. I see what you mean - it appears to list the information in date/time of creation order - no matter what you do you can't seem to sort it! Strange. You would expect that tapping the title bar would do something.

Going back to my previous reply. The reason I keep all my overlays for a walk (or two) in a named category is so that I can erase all the stuff on my GPS and send the info I need for the walk(s) planned. You could do similar for the PDA version I guess. I prefer this as MM insists on creating new routes with waypoints named WP0001 etc - and this tended to confuse my older GPSs. With my Colorado 300 all I do is create a GPX file and copy to the C300. The route waypoints don't appear in the C300's waypoint list - very neat solution.

Yes, but not directly on the PPC, and there can be several pitfalls:

Basically, transfer the PPC overlays to the PC, then export the Marks as a .CSV file. Open the .CSV in a spreadsheet such as Excel and sort alphabetically. Then import back into MM on the PC and transfer back to the PPC.

If you have a large overlay file on the PC, the last stage is best performed by exporting just the (sorted) Marks from MM as a .MMO file to the PPC (via card reader or Active Sync) and then tapping on the .MMO file name in File Explorer.

Ask here, or on MM's own forum, if you need more details.

Cheers, Alan.
