My neighbour asked me a question today and I'm stumped.
He has a Mio 168 with TTN5 software.
On his Home Computer he has MS Autoroute 2007. Evidently it has a GPS facility which, according to what he's read, he should be able to use on his Mio.
Nothing like it on my Autoroute 2002 so haven't a clue.
Any comments or help would be appreciated.
Thanks. L_P. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
And NO that's NOT me in the Avatar.
No he cannot use Autoroute on a Mio, What he can do is export a portion to pocket Streets which he can then use on the Mio or any Pocket PC, but the downside is its memory hungry and there is a limit to what you can export, havent tried it on Autoroute 2007 but tried it on 2006 and it is very limiting so didnt bother again, plus it can only be used as a map nothing else, no navigation, I would recommend using a map, hope this helps,
also if i remember you have to install pocket streets on your PDA I think?

I am very unclear as to what your question means, when you say "he should be able to use {the gps facility} on his Mio"
What do you actually mean? use route imports, or what - it's not very clear.
Or did you mean the Autoroute 2007 comes with an actual GPS hardware Receiver, and this is what you want to use on the mio?
If so, it would depend on what sort, type it is etc.
As when I once considered this as a cheap way of acquiring a hardware GPS Receiver, I soon realised that the gps hardware that came bundled with AR2007 was a CABLE based option, NOT a bluetooth, standalone device.
And as such, was very limited on what it could be used, serial ports being required on the device you want to use it with etc.
And if this is the sort he has that came with AR2007, then for these reasons, it cannot be used with as many devices as you would like, requiring somewhere to actually plug it - unlike Bluetooth GPS receivers that can connect to most any device that has Bluetooth.
If this is not the question you wanted answered however, can you re-phrase it better?
The mio 168 has receiver built in, so the question would not appear to apply. I am sure that no navigation is available although quite a while since i tried it.

Thanks for your replies. I couldn't see how it would work on his Mio.
I spoke to him today and he read some bits and pieces from the Autoroute Help.
How to Select a Route, Start guidance, have screen turn etc. But one thing rang a bell when he said 'Voice guidance doesn't work unless you have XP'.
It appears that having a GPS Receiver connnected to your computer, you are able to plan a route and watch progress, receiving instructions for turns. Maybe it would work in a car if using a laptop.
I may be wrong there, but I've told him he won't be able to use AR7 on his Mio. He's still not sure so will keep trying. I've told him to let me know if he's successful. (I won't hold by breath). _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

This is correct and it will work on the laptop in the car,
AR2007 comes in two flavours
1) Software only
2) Software and reciever (USB I think)
I will also stick my neck right out and say it will definetely not work, but I am not going to disturb my setup just to prove it. I have ran the streets on my mio168 for Barcelona and can only say its not worthwhile.
